    Default Help with Mod planning

I just bought a 2007 Scion tc. It looks like it already has a lowering kit on it and it has either an aftermarket TRD muffler or the performance option exhaust from the factory (it seems larger than the one on a friends stock tc). I am wondering about several things. First of all I’ve heard of people getting the supercharger from TRD and then changing the pulley to increase the Psi on the forced induction therefore increasing the HP. I’m wondering if anybody knows what size pulley to use and where to possibly get a used supercharger kit in good condition, or if I’d just be better off getting the Techtronic’s or Greddy turbo kit. I don’t like the turbo because Iive heard I’d have to loose the catalytic converter and with the way things are going I’m sure there going to start sticking there heads under the cars to look for them. Also I wanted to know if another aftermarket exhaust would be better HP and torque wise and which one isn’t to much louder than the TRD exhaust, I need my daughter to be able to sleep in the car as I go down the highway.

Well, the only exhaust option from the factory is the TRD exhaust.

The pulley that you are referring to is the NST 9.5psi pulley. However, TRD has since stopped production of the supercharger. You can normally find a used kit floating around in places. I know that one of our members is selling one as he went turbocharged. There are people that are satisfied with the supercharger, and others that bought a turbo for more power.

As far as exhaust, some kits have an option (I think). Either turbo-back or cat-back. If you're worried about not passing emissons, there are other options. I know that in MD they have to drive your car over the rollers so that they can hook up to the OBDII. If your car is low enough, they can't drive it over the rollers and they just tell you to pull off to the side where they will give you a 2 year waiver...

Thanks for the help. I was wondering about that exhaust thing. I bought the car having never looked at another tc seriously but since I've gotten the thing it been a blast.

Indeed. Most people get hooked after their first drive.
