    Default oil viscosity for autocross

I have an '09 tc that I want to autocross it. I want to choose the right oil viscosity. I know 5w-20 is recommended, but that worries me seeing older tc's were 5w-30 and my revs are going to be higher than a daily driver. Should I go with 5w-30 to better protect my engine when it's working hard, or use 5w-20 because 30 is too thick?

5w-20 may give you a bit more power and fuel efficiency, but 5w-30 should be more effective protection wise. It's up to you. I would use 5w-30 and a high performance synthetic oil like redline.

The drop to 5W-20 was for MPG. Even my 5.7L Tundra V8 calls for it. I always run 5W-30. That weight would be better suited to track duty.
