you're better off buying some Pringles or Sun Chips... the Baked Lays are good too.

Scion ECM's are encrypted and offer no "chip" to replace/upgrade. See for yourself....

You may be in the market for a piggyback controller. Not recommended unless you are running a built motor (head work, higher compression, cams), boost, are full nitrous system.

Check out UniChip. They have a relatively affordable PNP piggyback that can be tuned based on your bolt-ons. Not spot on but a good start. Again, not much use till you amass a few bolt-ons.

As stated above the UniChip is available, and has been recently modified to work on the 07+ motors. Dyno testing on the UniChip has been a source of argument since no one has managed to produce dyno results that are a clear indication of the power added by the UniChip. There are people that do swear that it works and there is currently a sale going on, although it may require a code from another forum(not sure if I can say on here which one). So its up to you whether or not to try it.
Dezod is in the final developmental stages of a new Hondata style piggy-back unit that will be able to actually control portions of the stock PCM intead of just modifying input signals. The system should even be able to control timing advance, which no other piggy-back can do at present and is necessary to get the maximum gains from your mods. It will be the closest thing to a full standalone and will have PNP connection(no splicing), and some manner of data logging and Software update via USB(not serial!)
There are standalones(hydra, AEM) but are either expensive, but would also help you to maximize gains from your upgrades once installed and tuned.
So, I found a PNP chip that tricks the computer into thinking it is cold outside and it plugs into the air intake sensor. It claims to give a 20hp gain. Is that a load of crap? Can't some one hack the Scion ECM and make a good PNP chip?

doesn't anybody read the answers that have already been posted?

Unichip Performance Computer Module FREE SHIPPING** at Sparks Toyota-Scion, Myrtle Beach, SCThis encryption has yet to be cracked so there are no performance chips or maps that will work on this ECM. Only a piggyback controller can adapt signals to increase performance. AEM, UniChip PNP, Greddy Ultimate, Apexi are the most prevalent used.
so would this be the UniChip you were referring to? i read the entire article but i dont register well with computers... so would this actually work? could someone explain in simple terms(if it works).

"Chips are one of those upgrades that seem to come up as either the end-all be-all of tuning or a a necessary evil. The ECU in the tC is "Learning" or more properly "Self-Correcting", that being said the car gains almost nothing from the addition of a chip or even a full piggyback system as there is no change in the intake, its charge, or the amount of exhaust being emitted. The OEM ECU is able to adjust itself to the minor changes introduced by the I/H/E system and the notion that you are going to see even marginal benefits from tuning that mild of a set-up come from the early days of the Tuner scene before VVTI or VTECH where the OEM ECUs were a great hinderance to the newer freer flowing air. They would often throw code or the like at even these basic setups, now adays an aftermarket ECU is needed when upgrading to things like F/I or some Nitrous systems in order to control the influx of pressure hitting the engine, this is especially true for Turbochargers to control the boost levels during daily driving and keep them at a safe level. But on a stock or semi-stock 2AZ-FE with the tCs ECU there is no usable gain, and alot of headache and walletache to bying an aftermarket "Performance Chip". "
Basically yes it works, it will maybe give you a very small incredibly insignificant gain until you have some larger addons....so my advice to you would be save your 500$ and buy a good bolt-on part that gives proven gains.
