    Default Turbo Install Help

We recently installed a custom kit. Car turns on w/ no probs. but once u get into boost, rev dies out and the car doesn't want to go anywhere. We are currently using the stock ecu. Do we have to use some type of aftermarket engine mgnt? Sorry, but i'm clusless about Scion's, all we did was install the kit.

You definately have to install an engine management system. You have to adjust for the fuel/air ratio and timing. You have a recipe for engine detonation right now.

EMS/EMU, FMS/FMU, Larger Injectors (by at least 100cc's), make sure you have headers that'll support the extra amount of forced exhaust, you may need a bigger exhaust system to protect your car from back blast (air that returns back into your exhaust pipes), more efficient spark plugs to make sure that you're not drowning your engine with fuel at the point of boost... I can go on and on.

Thats why manufacturer's R&D a kit before they push a turbo out on the consumer community. Not here to bash you, just letting you know that you can put a turbo on a stock engine and not expect these results. The engine just doesn't have a gut big enough to give you the results that you're looking for. What size turbo are you experimenting with?
