    Default engine swap

So i was at the local dragstrip last nite watchen some T&Ts when it hit me, how can i expect my little 2.4l engine to be able to keep up with them, i was just wondering what would be the the biggest engine (affordable) i could fit in the tc and still use as a daily driver. Or is the current stcok engine ok to race from a roll and keep up with a say s2000 whith turbo, air intake, ect.

Well, the stock motor with a Stage 3 turbo kit has been known to hit 400WHP w/o blowing the motor but that is on the edge of safety (bad gas could equal a bad motor). Most get around 300WHP as daily drivers with the right turbo. Fully built motors have hit over 750WHP. The motor that I had built by Jotech (Nitto tC 738WHP) is projected at making around 900WHP with a stand-alone and race gas though I am shooting for a 500-550WHP S/C setup for road racing. The problem that you are going to have is traction. With an extremely low 1st gear and no LSD, wide sticky tires are not going to help you 0-60 foot times by much. With an LSD and HD clutch, you are going to get the jump off the line (unless the other car is 2600lbs or less). The gear ratios in out manual trans is the real Achilles heel as the ratios are just not set up to maximize the torque band properly. If you have an auto, then forget it as it cannot handle more than 300WHP and sucks for performance.
