I use Mobil 1 5w 20 full synthetic in my 2006 Scion tC and no issues. I have heard great things about Mobil 1, Lucas, Ams Oil, and Royal Purple. You can use either 5w 20 or 5w 30 weight and it won't hurt anything. Your best bet would be to stick w/ a name brand full synthetic oil and change it before 5,000miles. Ams Oil and Royal Purple are going to cost more than Mobil, Quaker State, Valvoline..etc.

As far as fuel injection cleaners go, I stick w/ Chevron w/ Techron, or Lucas. I have heard of B-12, and from what a buddy of mine told me its supposed to help remove E85/Ethenol from the gas, how true that is IDK. Fuel injector cleaners can be used at every fill up, but not necessary. Most of the time every 2000-4000miles in plenty. I also use 89 octane the majority of the time and once in awhile I'll thrown in 93 octane to clean out the engine. I have heard a lot of people talk about Sea Foam, but its very concentrated stuff and needs to be used properly, although I am not to sure how safe it is for seals and rings. If you want to add anything to your oil, add a bottle of lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer then whatever oil you use. There is nothing wrong w/ protecting your engine and furthering its life.

and I thought that this was going to be a political discussion about natural resources. Ams Oil and Royal Purple are the BEST! Mobil 1 is second to them. Quaker state and Valvoline have a lot of detergents in them. Not the best for seals and things. Quaker state is ****.

Royal Purple is a Texas based synthetic oil company with high reputation and used heavily in the racing industry. So too is Lucas Racing Oils except they are located someplace else. Royal Purple is getting upwards to $8 a quart.

Seafoam is great stuff but it is meant more for carburetored and high mileage cars. I would suggest not using it on the 2AZ-FE as they don't get the typical carbon deposit build-up as in older cars.

As long as all your seals/rings are fine and no leaks, I would cont. with what oil you've been using. Some cars w/ higher mileage tend to consume more oil, but if no probs so far, keep using what you've been using. I would also add a bottle of lucas to the oil for added protection which won't hurt you either.

Lucas Oil Stabilizer, look for it at your autoparts store or Wal-Mart. It goes right in your oil. If you use 4 quart of oil for example, its counts as one of those quarts. Both my g/f and I use it in our rides and its works awesome.

Lucas is a synthetic racing oil that is safe to use in most vehicles. Not sure if they still carry the dyno oil. The Stabilizer comes in 2 varieties; one for dyno and one for synthetic. I use Royal Purple 5w-30 (S/C and down South) and Lucas Synthetic oil stabilizer.

    I have a 2005 tc with 28,000 miles.We drive about 4,000 miles/yr.
At my last oil change,I decided on synthetic oil.So far,am pleased.
    My question is:
Since we drive so little in a year, would it be wise to change it every year no matter what the mileage driven is?
    Thanks
    Ron

Even though you don't drive it that much in a year, the oil still needs to be changed. Dyno oil required oil changes at 3K miles under normal conditions. Synthetics have pushed that up to 6K miles under normal conditions. If you have drastic swings in mean temperature between the seasons, you might want to look at changing to alternative weight to handle the different climate changes. That is to say if you like some place where it is in the 80F's for Summer and -20F for Winter, you might opt for a bi-annual oil change with different weights. Another reason to change your oil at least every 6 months is oxidation and contamination. Over time, even a sitting car can get moisture built up in the crankcase thru the PCV and EGR systems. Moisture could find it's way into an open valve on the head and make it to the cylinder. The next time that you run the engine, the water that is not very compressible will work it's way past the rings and into your crankcase. Dirt, ozone and other pollutants can also build up in your oil.

So my big Kahuna advice to you is to make your oil changes bi-annual if you leave in a decent environment.
