    Default any ideas?

So i have a AEM cai installed on my 05 tc and it makes the most annoying sound you can imagine. The sound is very high pitched like when your cars brakes squeak but its only when your foot is on that gas very light, also when i change gears. now keep in mind this started after I installed the intake, also my friend has a injen cia and it does the same thing. So im asking all of you to give me your input and maybe hopefully a fix. thanks all ill take a vid tomorrow so you can hear it for yourself.

Your not the first person to bring this up and on other site I participate as well others have had the same issue. I will tell you to recheck and make sure everything is tight and not rubbing on anything. Most of the issues others were having were at the throttle body and the pipe going down into the fender well. I have an AEM CAI on my 2006 Scion tC and I have yet to hear any rubbing/squeaking sounds. If the intake itself was install correctly and tightened down, you shouldn't hear anything but the woosh sound of the air thats being sucked in.

That is one reason that OEM intakes have the Helmholtz Resonators. My neighbor has one on his Honda Accord that almost sounds like a BOV. With my S/C crunching 15PSI, mine makes a monstrous roar when I am heavy right foot.

If it is truly high velocity air causing the squeal, you will have to live with it or change out your intake.

I haven't had any issues w/ my AEM CAI, and never got that high squealing noise. The only thing I hear is a whistling/sucking sound under acceration and no noise under the hood.

I personally don't believe that is the case, because a friend of mine has an o5 tC and he has a CAI and has never had any of those noises that your getting. As Navy said it maybe the CAI that you have, but who knows. Like I said before, if they aren't installed right and something is loose, it can cause noises. I can't see or hear your tC, so you can opt to deal w/ the noise or swap out to another CAI. I hope everything works out for you and take care.

Hey, aren't you that famous hand model?

Not sure what you are moving in the pic. Isn't there supposed to be a rod attached to the flange on the pipe?

it has a bit of a whistle ? check to make sure everythings on tight and there arent any places where air can get in/out, i have a afe stage two on my dodge truck, it sounds like my truck has a small turbo because it whistles kind of loud. but its mostly because it doesnt sit 100% flush on my intake, but most cai's do have some bit of a whistle to them.
