are all intakes created equal. i just bought a bomx intake online. the reason that i didn't get the aem or the injen is because i don't see why i should have to pay hundreds of dollars for an intake. all it really is, is a pipe with a filter. as long as it fits and works what the difference in each of them other than price??

There will be differences in the material and build quality of the plumbing. Build quality will be lower in the cheaper knock-offs (meaning weld burns, poor welds, sloppy bends) and the material might be thinner/lower grade which can lead to poor welds/bad bends and fatiguing faster.

The Filter element itself can also play in to the value. The AEM filters are better than most others (equal to or better than K&N).

As long as you like it than great, but my guess is it won't hold up well.

well i decided that i have answered my question as of today. i bought an off brand intake from ebay and the ****ing thing doesn't fit the car. the maf doesn't match up at all so now i have to pay to send the damn thing back. here is a little hint people do not buy **** because in this case you get what you pay for. go directly to the manufactures web site and order it from them. you may pay more but you won't be dealing with the bull**** that i'm having to go through.

I know for certain there is not an AEM SRI for the tC. K&N is probably your best choice.

Or, order from a reputable dealer/distributor.

Dont feel bad about the short ram. CAI is cool too but what are you gon do with the cold air when itz rainy season? the bypass filter thing is too expensive. But when you get down to it a short ram wont give you much performance i hear some people just drop in a K&N filter.

Your only going to get hydro-lock if you run thru 2 foot deep puddles. You should not be crazy to do that anyway. Not safe.

Yes, on this car you will have a harder time hydrolocking it due to the placement of the filter on the cai.

Buy the one that looks and sounds the way you want. They add negligible power (and heat soak worse than stock, so sometimes are robbing you of power after sitting idling) so you wont notice any performance increase. So you should be shopping for build quality, looks and sound.

Go with the GFI. Search over on yoursciontc for G.F.I and you should find out what I mean. The name is great.. but the better part is that for less than a CAI (which gives you nothing, but heat soaks worse than stock) or SRI (even worse) you actually end up with something that works to reduce heat soak and pulls air from a lower spot than stock. You end up pulling air from the air vent in the bumper. The filter being mid line rather than in the point that it can be submerged helps reduce the chance of hydrolocking. It should be simple to add a bypass valve if needed as well. Not a bad setup.

the weapon r intake is the best, hands down, you will love and its only like $200 or so, it actually gives as much as a cold air, and it is a short ram

That's what I've been hearing about the Weapon R.. I'm thinking about it now. Esp. since I learned I can get a good discount on it as well.

well i finally got my injen cai and it was a pain in the butt too put it on but it works great. it's loud and it feels like it definatley putt a couple more hairs on the tc's balls. i had a guy in a new tiburon come up next to me and try to race me and i blew his ass away. sure it wasn't all the intake but i don't think that it hurt.

Hahaha... of course it didn't hurt! Doesn't hurt your gas mileage either. Good for you, dude. I'm glad you found something you like! Plus, with the injen intake you're still legal for Cali ^_^
