    Default Weapon R Intake, quick question.

    Hey there i am just about to order this intake(link below) and wanted to know if this 2009 Weapon R intake will fit my 2010 Scion tc. I've done a little searching, but can't seem to find a recent answer with these two years. Thanks!!

    Unless there is something that I don't know about; the 2010 and 2009 TC has the same MAF sensor size and setup. The intake will fit your 2010 TC no problem. Come check out our website if you want the regular intake as opposed to the NEO Chrome. It's a bit cheaper.

    Very correct. The changeover was only from the 2007 model and up till the new 2011.

    Let the flogging begin: Assuming that the colder air the better (common knowledge) would NA intakes benefit from an intercooler like a FI intakes do? My CAI already drops down through the fender into the bumper, it would be easy to add an intercooler.

    Unless your going F/I, I wouldn't waste the time adding an inter-cooler to N/A. If adding an inter-cooler to a N/A application was that easy, everyone w/ N/A would have this done on their tC's.

    In tech terms;

    An air-air intercooler can only reduce the temperature of the air flowing thru the core to the temp of the surrounding air. This is also a direct function to the design and efficiency of the core. This means that a 200F air charge is not completely cooled to the ambient air temp of let's say 90F. The only method to cool further the charge air thru the core would be with a CO2/ NOx spraybar or water sprayer.

    Now the crux in this plan is that all intercoolers have a certain amount of inefficiency. That correlates into a pressure loss across the core in boosted applications. For a NA motor, you are putting the intake air further away from the metering device. This can cause a delay in the reading, interfere with the Helmholtz resonance, and slow throttle response. An example would be trying to breathe thru a tube. The longer the tube, the harder it is to breathe.
