high altitude performance for a texas based 2011...

This is a discussion on high altitude performance for a texas based 2011... within the Engine Performance forums, part of the Scion tC category; any ideas to help performance (preferably cheap) while i'm up here in colorado for the week, besides higher octane?...

    With modern computer controlled fuel injection cars, there is not much to do. The ECM will make the adjustments that it needs to keep the MPG and performance near the same as in Texas. Modern cars have barometer sensors to aid in making such adjustments. Higher altitude means less Oxygen so that should make for a richer fuel mix without fuel trim adjustments by the ECM. Higher Octane fuel is not warranted and may actually provide worse performance. Look towards the bottom of this Wiki article for more info.

    haha thanks...ya was getting same mileage, just seemed less power, but the mountains can be deceiving...may have been going uphill

    Then you should be making 100MPG and 300WHP going down the other side. Head on over to Pike's Peak for a little test run.
