Cool (Update) Engine Mod's Installed 5/10/2011

I took advantage of the beautiful weather today and having the day off from my two jobs, to install some engine mods. Have a look!

** Today I placed an order for the Tanabe Medallion Concept G Muffler off of Ebay for $420.00 (Brand New in the Box). The reason why I chose this muffler is because many members on Club-tC.com and ClubSciontC.com recommended it, and two I took the time and listened to several video clips on Youtube of the muffler installed on Scion tC's as well as on other vehicles. The sound was awesome, a very low smooth tone, aggressive and did not sound at all raspy like the some of the other mufflers on the market. The Magnaflow Muffler I had I ended up selling to a friend.

** On 5/8/2011 I placed an order w/ Ptuning.com for the Licence Plate Mount Kit ($66.45/Shipped), that should be here any day now. I will follow this thread up w/ pictures of the muffler, radiator stay brackets and the licence plate mount kit.

Looking good. The good thing about those DME cap covers is that they retain the OEM cap which has the vent.

Thanks Scott! Yeah I read what you said about the oxidation and corrosion, thats one of the down falls of living in NY. I do all that I can to keep the engine bay clean, I have seen worst looking engine bays on other vehicles at car shows, especially those that don't even take the time or care for that matter to clean them.

As soon as the exhaust is finished and the suspension, I will follow this thread up w/ more pictures.

    (Update) More goodies! 5/17/2011

P-Tuning Licence Plate Mount Kit arrived today!

I was looking forward to installing this today, but once again good old mother nature ruined those plans. I will post up pics as soon as the weather decides to be more cooperative.

The Tanabe Medallion Concept G Exhaust should be arriving any day now. I am still waiting on my suspension mods (Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs) (Tokico Struts) to come in from my friends distributor.

On Friday 5/19/2011, I will have all new Brake Rotors/Pads (EBC Dimpled/Slotted Rotors)(EBC Green Stuff Pads). I am going to go to my friends garage so him and I can install them before I go to work that day. My friends distributor didn't have access to the Goodridge Stainless Steel Braided Brake Lines, so I ordered those myself from http://www.sciongeneratio...-sciontc-brake-lines.html on 5/16/2011. I still need to paint my brake calipers, I am considering painting them gloss Black.

I did a lot of reading on the internet about EBC's brake pads and even read their website. EBC states their GreenStuff Brake Pads (Street) are designed for vehicles up to 200BHP. Since my Scion tC DOES NOT exceed 200BHP, the GreenStuff Pads were the correct choice. Now on the flip side of the coin, if I had a F/I application, I would've bought the RedStuff, which are designed for vehicles over 200BHP.

As far as Ptuning Licence Plate Mount Kit goes, I absolutely love it. I have actually seen quite a few Scion's w/ it installed, looks sick IMO. I looked on Ptunings website as far as the metal used, to me it appears to be stainless steel, but I may be wrong. The metal isn't one bit flimsy or cheap, plus theres some weight to it.

The exhaust should sound awesome once its installed, I have listened to plenty of sound clips on Youtube, Tanabe's Website and there was also a huge write on ClubSciontC.com about exhaust/mufflers, well worth reading as well.

Look like a nice set of lines. At one time, I was contemplating on creating my own lines and selling them before these came on the market way back when.

This would be a great time to pain those calipers. Rebuild kits can be had at the Dealerships fairly cheap. Find yourself so good synthetic brake fluid that is ABS compatible.

While the brakes are being done, the brake calipers are getting painted Gloss Black as well. I will post up pics as soon as I can so you can see the finished product.

    Update New Brakes Installed: 5/23/2011

(EBC Dimpled & Slotted Brake Rotors/EBC GreenStuff Pads and Gloss Black Painted Brake Calipers)

    Front Brakes:

    Rear Brakes:

My buddy and I had about 1 1/2 hours into the brakes, we took our time and we had no issues what so ever. A huge difference over stock rotors and pads, stops on a dime! I highly recommend EBC's products.

In a week or two when we have more available free time we're going to tackle the braided stainless steel lines. The install on the brake lines are going to be about 3-4 hours, if I didn't have to work today, we would've done them as well.

Looking awesome my friend. Yes, that license plate is looking slick. Where did you get the hardware (bolts/nuts) from again? Who has been doing all of your color matching paint jobs? From the picts it looks like they did an excellent job.

Dress Up Bolts | Titanium Fasteners for your Engine Bay

The Licence Plate Kit was cake, took me like 10 mins to install. I have a body/paint guy that works at Royal Ford in Owego, NY, his name is Mike. He has painted all my after market parts, knows his stuff and does amazing work.

Thank you Scott, at least this site has had something nice to say about my mods and hard work. I am still waiting on my Suspension mods to come in and my exhaust is on back order. Someone bought the muffler just before I bought mine, so I have to wait for the next shipment to come in from Japan.

Ouch! That, unfortunately, might take some time due to the disasters that hit Japan. Hopefully these guys weren't near there.

Say, what upper grille do you have? I done forgot.

Here is where I got my upper/lower grilles- Scion TC Grille Kit

I love em, very easy to install, powder-coated black and they don't rust. A lot of people like the FIG Grilles, but I am not into the cheap plastic grilles.
