Default Cams increase in Hp and torque?

I have a N/A 2006 Scion Tc and was wondering how much increase in Hp and torque I would get off of two new cams. I'm not sure of the best brand but I'm probably going to be getting the best out there if priced reasonably.

If your going to upgrade your Cam's, I suggest Brian Crower. As far as what the HP increase will be, I am not really sure. I would talk to Brian Crower themselves, FastScions, Dezod or MengMotorSports.

Understand that upgrading camshafts involves more than just sliding one out and another in. When you change the amount of lift and or the duration, it becomes necessry to consider how effectively the valves will close with the new larger movement or whether they'll close sufficiently rapidly to prevent "floating" if they're help open longer. Their ramp times will change. This means valve springs need to be considered. And, since the rockers and othe parts will be under more stress, one needs to consider upgrading those as well. And, now that you've increased the ability of the air/fuel to get past the valves, can the ports handle it? If not, they may need to be opened up, called "porting".

Additionally, now that you're allowing more fluid flow (air is a fluid too) into the cylinders, can the injectors keep up? Or will the injectors need to be replaced with ones of higher capacity and the ECU remapped?

Changing cams can get tricky. Working with a speed shop that's used to dealing with these things may be the smartest solution.

The 2AZ-FE don't have rocker arms. They have bucket tappets that must be shimmed for zero valve-lash. The 2AR-FE in the 2011-up has roller rockers.

We have a Member with a fully built N/A motor. Not the same as just dropping in a set of bump sticks but you can see what he had to install.

Just a set of cams, in themselves, is not going to net much more power than 10-20WHP. Port flow work, larger valves, higher compression, more fuel, and better engine management is required to take full advantage of what a larger profile set of cams can offer. Also, just those bump sticks alone w/o further modification will cause some driveability issues and poor MPG.

Note" Brian Crower no longer offers the street profile N/A camshafts. The Stage3 N/A cams are for race only! You might call around and see if anyone has stock on the Stage1 N/A cams.

Navylife, you are, of course, correct.

I should have done at least a tiny bit of research before posting.

    Thanks for the correction.
