Default Installed my Injen CAI today

    Hey everyone,

I installed my Injen CAI today and I am very excited about it. Will take some pics tomorrow during the day and post it. I had a few questions regarding the intake.

    1) Since the install, I hear a whistle when i accelerate a little fast. From what ive heard its normal. What exactly is causing the whistle?

    2) Is there a product to keep the Injens chrome to look and last longer?

    3) Do they make any product that keeps the tube from rattling where its coming from the fender wheel well? If not what are your recommendations? Can i put a small plastic foam in there, or would it melt?

    1. That is completely normal. The aftermarket intake removes the sound dampening features of the OEM intake like the Helmholtz Resonator. Being that it is a CAI, instead of SRI, the air filter is now outside the confines of the engine bay. This lends to louder state of the whistle which is just air being sucked into the end of the tube under certain throttle/load conditions. It is my hypothesis that the reduced cross-section of the intake tubing at the MAF intensifies this noise.

    2. It is polished aluminum, not chrome. Most polished aluminum has a clear coat to protect the aluminum from corrosion and dulling of the polished surface. If it is coated, then any heavy, non-abrasive car wax will do. If not coated, then a product like Zoop Seal will work.

    3. Nothing you use should melt. Autoparts and home improvement stores carry rubber weather stripping that can be used to run along the edge of the opening. You need to use one that has a channel that slips over the metal like your door weather stripping.

    Thank you Very much navy,

Have you used Caswell ShineSeal? It seems i may go with the mini kit. What do you think? Which is better?

For right now I have the plastic foam piece in place to keep it from rattling. I will look into getting something more long term that looks better. Thanks again.

I found w/ my AEM CAI which is a polished stainless steel, I clean it with windex or fantastik, wipe it dry, then apply a coat of Mother's Chome Polish, then finally a coat of Meguiar's NXT Generation Wax. Still shines to this day with very little effort to keep in shining.

Till i get my order in i will do what you suggested. I'd rather keep it looking nice and shiny.

I have the Inejen CAI as well. i love it to nice choice. As for the rattling Dr.Isotope makes a little housing that actually attaches to the fender wall and holds the intake securely and its actually real cheap i put it on mine before i switched to SRA i would suggest that. before i ordered that since i work at home depot me and the guys took an old school SUPER thing bike tire and filled it with garage weather stripping an and put it all the way around the fender wal with zip ties and that worked wonder but i didnt like the look of it and thats when i found and bought the Dr.Isotope one
