I don't believe that the 2AZ-FE is available in the Japanese Domestic Market. It is primarily installed in US Domestic spec'd cars. They were used in the Gen1 tC, 2nd Gen xB, late model Matrix/Corolla, '07-'11 Camry, and early model Rav4 before they began running the 2AR-FE in 2008. I would look around all the forums for any of those vehicles wrecked and being parted out. That is how I cam across my 2nd engine that I had race prepped. You want to stay away from front collision vehicles as the engine block could be cracked at the motor mounts.

It is roughly based on the 2AZ-FE design. I have tried to visually compare the components and mounting locations, as well as, transmission compatibility. The motor does sit higher due to the new Dual vvt-i head. It will physically fit into the tC but not sure about clearance with the OEM hood.

While I imagine a few things might match up, the ECM and associated wiring, I am fairly certain, are going to be different. The 2AR-FE in the 2ndGen tC has only electric steering. Not sure if other platforms are hydraulic power steering or electric. The engine block's footprint is the same but it is taller by an inch or two.

custom hood job? lol well i think im getting an engine from richmond VA. its 2199 with shipping and the guy said hed give me half off the warranty so a total of 2400 with a 3 year parts and labor warranty. to me its the best deal, rather than going full rebuild or reman. i know ill get more life, but all i want is this car to survive 3 or 4 years till i can make it into a very fun car to drive

also, i was having the 1-2 shifting problem it seems to be fine if i dont high rev out of first or downshift hard into second, is this another major problem? or something i can get away with my shifting into 3rd. Also, before my engine just starting having the knocking i could feel heavy vibrations in the clutch. Was this just from the engine being all f***ed, or should i at this point scrap the car?
