Oh wow, I had forgotten I had even created a thread here about this. Just got an email about it.

If it puts peace of mind to anyone, I decided to go for a Subaru Impreza 2.5i after I did not like the tC that I had test driven. Also, I got a Blitz Nur Spec R for it, despite it not being the best choice in piping diameter for a non-turbocharged car.

No exhaust will be the loudest exhaust.

Quicktime performance electric exhaust cutout. 160 dollars shipped. Go from stock to open header in ~4 seconds.

The topic was the loudest cat-back.

Where would the bypass dump the exhaust when it is open?

    Default another option

I put the Agency power S pipe back on my 07, coupled with a weapon r intake. Sounds good, and has a nice rumble when down shifting. It can get a lil raspy when your in the high RPM range but its not too bad.

Mine dumps right under the passenger seat. It's right after the second cat.

You get a pretty good rumble feeling when it's open and the car is at high revs. Of course it's no problem to run 1 1/2 feet of exhaust pipe out the side, but i decided not to.

Default Best sound and loudest exhaust

The best usually are the customs. Go straight pipe from cat on back and top it off with a universal 3A Performance muffler that can be found at pepboys. The double wall resonated muffler will limit the "raspy" noise and provide a nice deep tone as well as a power boost. This is especially true if you have the massive resonator removed.

But not the best for performance. Our motors are street motors and do not have the cam profiles, nor compression to be running on a straight open exhaust with much in the way of more performance. This holds true for S/C as in N/A, but a turbo app is a different story. WOT would be all that you could do to keep your torque curve up. Remember, Back Pressure is not evil.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, I'm actually still driving my '02 WRX, but it's being sold, and having it replaced with a tC.

The way the two cars are set up are entirely different, but I sincerely dislike "loud and raspy" exhaust tones.

I had the GReddy Evo-2 with a turbo-back set up, 2 resonators in the midpipe, and the tone was exactly what I loved. A super low, deep rumble, with good sound only at WOT. Thought he Boxer Flat-4 motor is certainly a contributor, I'm looking for the same effect on the tC. I'm getting a 08, any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

its going to be extremely hard to get a tC to sound like a wrx. not totally sure, but you might want to check out youtube. they obviously make a greddy exhaust for thr tC but i personally love the megan. check it out on youtube.
girls at college love the tC

The trick to resonators is either one huge one or even better 2 of different lenghts to absorb the resonances at different frequency bands.

What is your exhaust setup? Depending on what you have (OEM) or not, you will need to replace the OEM resonator with a larger one. Try a Magna flow.

all i have is the hks hi power muffler, everything else is stock, and then had a buddy weld on some pipe so it would fit!! Now i looked at my setup it looks like the resonator is all the way in back before the axle?? couldnt i do bigger pipe from there back into the muffler?? would that affect the sound at all like more raspy?? or probably no affect?
