I did the DIY CEL eliminator on mine and ended up having to add a 3rd anti-fouler to my setup

Was this CEL eliminator made out of spark plug anti-foulers from the autoparts store or was it a premade item? What is the MIL code? Maybe you damaged your O2 sensor leads or contaminated free-air or zirconia element.

It's the CEL eliminator from Weapon R that I had installed. My brother said everything looked fine and was installed correctly. I'm having him try the antifouler trick to see if that works. He said the MIL code was emissions.

if the code was "BANK 1 SENSOR 2" then it is the secondary O2 sensor... mine was throwing it until I did the anti-fouler trick and haven't had any problems since

I tried the using 3 antifoulers but they hit the car so I could only use two of them. My bro is gonna drive it around using only two antifoulers and see what happens. Hopefully it turns off. How did you fit 3 of them??

Hey Navy, How would I fix the O2 sensor leads or contaminated free-air or zirconia element??? I tried the antifouler trick and my light is still on. I don't know what else to do. Please help.

That actually looks to be effective and just the fact that it comes with a new crush washer has me sold. I have tried every parts store in the South and none of them, including the Dealerships offer just the crush gasket (washer). Crush gaskets are one time use only as once they crush, they are no longer 100% effective at sealing. The cost of that part is not too much more than the supplies needed to make the one listed in our Tech Section plus it is Stainless Steel (presumably). http://www.club-tc.com/forums/engine...event-mil.html

Well the item i got was actually stainless steel but my o2 sensor went out on me before i had a chance to put the CEL in the car.

But it fit on my car quite well and looks nice. pain in the butt though if you have a turbo in your way.

After taking a second look at how this part operates, I have my doubts. The reason being is that the probe tip of the Bank1Sensor2 narrowband O2 sensor in the stock exhaust is is actually located in the exhaust gas stream between the 2 converters. Using the anti-fouler trick or similar product pulls the sensor's probe tip completely out of the exhaust flow. It, therefore, cannot read anything but stagnated exhaust so it interprets it as a lean mixture. When the engine is first started, idling, or off-throttle fuel cut, fresh exhaust gas will fill the void where the sensor probe is. During any constant or near constant throttle of the motor, the exhaust within this pocket will not fully exchange with the oncoming exhaust flow. This leads to incorrect reading of the exhaust gas flow. That is whyit is considered a band-aid fix.

This mini-cat product seems to have merit with the catalytic honeycomb material in it to produce the accurate reading of the O2 content of the exhaust gas flow. Modern Scion/Toyota/Lexus utilize the A/FR wideband sensor to determine air/fuel mix before the primary TWC converter and a Heated O2 sensor afterwards for fine tuning and to check that efficiency of the primary cat. The readings should not be the same. The second sensor acts as a safety net to the TWC to protect it from heat overrun damage.

The mini-cat is designed similar to anti-foulers and other O2 simulators on the market in that is pulls the Heated O2 Sensor's probe out of the exhaust gas stream. If, by following the above example of the anti-foulers, we would have to come to the near same conclusion for the mini-cat. The difference maybe that the probe looks to be slightly closer to the direct exhaust flow and, assuming that the mini-cat's ceramic core makes it to the correct operating, makes for slightly more accurate data sensing.

I am not saying that this product does not work. I have read mixed reviews from other forums for different vehicles. There are variables in engine control between different engines (model/type) so these reviews would fall inline with the adage, "Works for some and not for others". If you are in need of method to eliminate O2 sensor errors from swapping the header out, then I you might want to try this. It is a little more expensive than the DIY Anti-fouler trick and it should work on our cars. If you already have the anti-fouler and it works, don't bother spending money on this. Without any real testing on this product, the verdict is still out.

    DIY Anti-fouler trick.

I JUST had my Megan 4-1 Header installed with the Weapon-R CEL Eliminator and it's working fine! Sadly there was one bolt on the bracket I couldn't get out and stripped so I had to take it to a shop (on the header) and they put it all on for me. I didn't want to admit that but I couldn't get that damn bolt out! Works GREAT.

Well, atleast you got it running. Are you talking about one of the bolts to lower mount bracket by the collector or are you referring to that nut just behind the alternator that is a booger to get a wrench onto? So, any picts to be posted?

Say, how did that Battle of the Bands contest go?
