If your considering having an aftermarket exhaust on your tC and worried it may not pass emissions, I would suggest going with either Magnaflow, Borla, or TRD. Most of the canister aka Fart Can Mufflers are too loud, very obnoxious and very ricey IMO. A S-Pipe/Down Pipe is a great upgrade and flow a hell of a lot better than the stock down pipe, just stray away from Megan. Personally, if I was you, I would have the whole exhaust from the header back custom made and mandrel bent. Most people buy a down pipe/S-Pipe, but its really not necessary, exhaust shops can custom make you one for a lot less.

Most people don't know that mufflers carry a dB rating (decible). HKS, Greddy, Skunk 2, Injen for ex. say they won't excede 90dB. A free flowing exhaust with no restriction is going to be loud no matter what, and will attract attention from local law enforcement. If your looking for a low, deep tone, and not ricey sounding, stick with the ones I mentioned above.

Oh wow i did not know most of that. so now i am like the TRD or magnaflow and in your opinion which one is better sounding. i have a Short ram and that really gonna help the exhaust reguardless but i really hate the civic ricer sound and i want the deep throaty as much as possible and i like the look of the stockish style from magnaflow

I personally love the sound of Magnaflow. The TRD Axel Back sounds good as well, but its not as deep as magnaflow.

I was also going to mention, canister/fart can mufflers are more for sound than anything else, how loud and obnoxious can you be! They may offer some performance gains, but magnaflow, borla, TRD or even flowmaster sounds better and will give you the sound/tone your looking to achieve.

Exhaust systems can either be clamped on or welded on. If you feel you can DIY, then by all means. I would rather have my exhaust professionally done and welded. It just looks cleaner, less chance of breaking, coming undone or the chance of an exhaust leak.

I'm going to say the Magnaflow is a Cat-Back, but don't quote me on it. I know TRD is Axle-Back. If your going to upgrade your exhaust, I would buy a highflow CAT (Magnaflow or CatCo). Less restriction, more flow and more HP/Torque. Go to Magnaflow's website and look at all their mufflers, that is what I did and bought one in the style I wanted, but an FYI; there are other websites out there that sell magnaflow for a lot less.

You want a universal high flow CAT from either Magnaflow or CatCo. You can even find these on Jegs.com and SummitRacing.com.

Any local performance exhaust shop can get you a high flow CAT as well. It maybe cheaper for you to buy one yourself, rather than buying one from them.

Are you refering to the outlet size or exhaust tip? Oval, Round, or Slat Cut?

That's what you want bro. A 2.25'' to 2.50'' would be plenty. Don't go bigger than 2.50'', although to be on safe side, consult with a performance shop or call Jegs/SummitRacing and see what they say.

Your more than welcome bro. Glad I could help. Doing your homework right the first time saves a ton of headaches later on down the road. Don't hesitate to ask questions, that's what we're here for. Post up pics when you get that done, I will be doing the same when mine is done.
