    Default New Exhaust system question?

Hey everyone new TC member here. I am about to buy a new exhaust system for my 07 tc and i was gonna go with the Megan racing drift spec cat back system. Now before i buy it i keep reading that i need a S-pipe and i am a little new to the whole tuning thing and trying to learn. I am just curious before i buy the system do i need a S-pipe? or is it more of a recommendation and can anyone tell me why i need it if i do? only one i can seem to find is on fastscion.com. Thank you for any help givin

There are better products on the market to purchase than Megan, personally I would avoid Megan and look into Tanabe, Magnaflow, TRD, or Borla. The S-Pipe can be upgraded whether or not you have a header, the OEM s-pipe is very restrictive, I have an Invidia 60mm down-pipe on my tC and flows so much better than the stock one.

Ok ill have to look at the other I'm looking for a good deep non-raspy sound. As for the S-pipe I'm assuming that's the pipe from the headers to the exhaust? That mite have been a dumb question but I'm trying to learn as much as possible. And I don't need one but I can get one for better air flow correct?

I would listen to exhaust sound clips on YouTube or listen to someone else's exhaust. I recommend Tanabe, since that is what I am running and the Invidia S-Pipe, great sound and much smoother flow. If you want better exhaust flow, upgrading the muffler and s-pipe is where I would start and possibly a header if your looking for one.

If you haven't done so, buy a cold-air intake. Less restrictive air flow, better MPG and a little more HP/throttle response.

ok so i have been listening to a bunch of different exhausts and i feel like the only one that is deep enough is the tanabe but when i go to look them up online im only finding axel back systems i was able to find 1 cat back but it was way to expensive. If anyone has a good link of a nice sounding cat back tanabe or others that were posted about TRD, Borla exe please give me the link to check them out i have been using andysautosport and fastscion.com for sites only because i know they are legit sites.

Another exhaust you can consider is PTuning. There is really not that much difference in HP/Torque w/ an Axle-Back or Cat-Back, if anything 2-4 HP, which you won't feel/notice.

Cadence would you possibly be able to link your top 3 recomendations so I can look at them? Don't matter price or anything if I have to ill just eat the price. Id rather get something that sounds great and works great then have to settle ya know. And if u don't mind why is the megan racing one not good? Sorry I'm asking a lot but I just wanna get it rite

    1) Tanabe Medallion Concept G
    2) PTuning - Ptuning.com - Item Description
    3) Greddy EVO2
    4) Magnaflow (Axle-Back)
    5) TRD (Axle-Back)

My reason for not recommending Megan's products is because they are not of the greatest quality, and you can ask NavyLife59 as well, he'll agree w/ me.

    * Get an Invidia 60mm S-Pipe/Down-Pipe. You can also buy a Moroso Spiral Flow Resonator and use this in place of the OEM resonator, will help cut down on rasp and smooth out the tone. I found that the Tanabe sounded the best of all the after market exhausts and was the cheapest by buying on Ebay. You need to figure in the price and shipping, got mine for $420.00 shipped and their manufactured in Japan.

The top 5 exhaust I listed are my favorites w/ Tanabe being my top choice. The one I have is axle-back, you can go to Tanabe's website and see if they have a Cat-Back. The only muffler's I don't personally care for HKS and Skunk 2, I have heard quite a few and they are obnoxiously loud and very raspy in my opinion.

+1 for Tanabe, we have the medallion on our company TC and love it.

To answer some of your questions, the Spipe is the pipe that connects the header to the midpipe. It goes Motor -> header ->spipe->midpipe-> axleback.

Some exhausts like the megan drift spec, Ark, ptuning, dezod, and magnaflow include a midpipe and is considered a more complete exhaust system. The Tanabe exhaust is great, but does not come with a midpipe, most people just purchase a Megan midpipe since it fits with most axlebacks.

I actually have an Injen axel back exhaust. I don't know anyone else who has it. I love it. I agree with Cadence, Youtube scion tcs with different exhaust to hear the difference in sounds.

If you havent already, look into dezod.com they sell full exhaust kits they are kinda expensive though. but well worth the money. also think about what else you want to do your car first. If later u decide to put a turbo on her then I would go ahead and get the exhaust that will match up I was doing the same thing looking at all different exhaust but I new I was going to boost her. so I went ahead and waited to save up more money and purchased my s1 turbo system from dezod along with the turbo back exhaust. it is 2.5 through and through. it sounds amazing. at idle it is alot quitter than stock. I am very happy with the results. know ready to do more upgrades.
