I agree with Navy, drastic innovation hardly = practicality and cost effective.

You're better off just dumping in a massive HKS T-51 or Apex RX6 turbo, and just tuning it up the yin yang.

There needs to be less emphasis on what's in the car, and more on how the car drives!

So long as people attribute looks and high dyno numbers to "good cars" we will never get any true unique tuning!

We need to start a new classification system: HP/MPG. Ok, so you make 900WHP out of your 4-banger. How far can you go on a tank of gas? With gas costing $4+ this summer, it is more about how much performance can you squeeze out of every mile like they do in professional racing. This classification system could be broken down into subdivisions like pump gas, race gas, diesel, and hybrid.

Dude Navy, just met up with a bunch of my SoCal Lancer Evolution buddies, and the new thing is tuning on 87 octance.

So, checking out what kind of F/I set up you can run, with 87 might be an interesting prospect. But then again, this requires a good deal of knowledge in tuning.

But power on a budget is always more fun!

I think that is where it is at for the future. Anyone with some cash can push the HP #'s running exotic fuels. Chartering the unknowns in efficiency is going to require extraordinary skill. Tuning the most out of 87 Octane will be an envelop to be pushed to the extremes.

Well that's the interesting thing. Nearly all gas companies utilize an ethanol mixture to boost octane rating.

99% of all 91/93 octane you get is 87 boosted with ethanol, so technically, 87 is actually more pure, when it comes to straight gasoline.

All ya need is a can of Motor Up. I saw that commercial with the Junkyard mechanic putting some in a clunker and the motor ran. You could tell that he was very pleased with the product. He was all smiles. Atleast that is what it looked like. It was very hard to tell with just his 3 teeth!
