more torque than hp... not surprising ...

but why? wouldnt that mean more acceleration and less top speed? couldn't you adjust to that with some other kit? not trying to knock you just want your perspective

I come from a touge heritage.

Torque and acceleration off the line and acceleration recovery is what wins races. Not pretty HP numbers.

When you corner a lot you'll understand the importance of torque and a lower end power band.

So now what would you guys reccomend to me...

All I want is more power, but I also want dependibility, and I dont want to do any piggy back. Basically all I want is a true bolt on. Just put it on and dont have to worry about a thing, but the usual oil change, and filter. Basically low maintence.

I am new to F/I because I have only worked on N/A cars. Seeing as how that isnt going to happen very soon with the tC, I think F/I is the best way to go.

well supercharger is more reliable altho they hav there share of issues .. some members here are on there 4th one due to mechanical issues .. personally i dnt think there worth it .. not because i'm turbo'd but because 2 geez for 40 hp is stupid and a waste in my opinion no offense to s/c tC'z .. but its sooo not worth it to me .. 2 more geez and you can hav 140 hp ADDED to ur 160 ( 300 ) .. but thats jus me

If you want as direct bolt on as it gets, then the TRD S/C w/ the reflash is the way to go.

But, there's nothing like getting boosted.

Reliability=S/C
Power=Turbo

If you have the cash go turbo. I however didnt. but the s/c is still awesome

I think I'm gonna just go with a 14.5 psi pulley eventually and maybe run an intercooler. Idk tho cuz you loose a lot of boost from an intercooler. but i deff want a different pulley.

Hey yall. I'm new to these forums and also a first time Tc owner. I have an 06 5spd MT and I've been doing my research and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go Turbo...possibly and most like the Turbonetics kits. But I'm just curious on just much maintenance Ill have ta do with the Turbo. What else would I need to do/buy/know to run it at 8psi and keeping a daily drive?

My plans for my TC are:

1. Megans racing Drift Spec exhaust
2. Lowering springs
3. Injen CAI
4. Turbonetics Kit

and then some styling.

Any advice would be very much appreciated cause I'm new to the whole car seen. I WAS a lifted truck guy

Judging from the listing on what the Turbonetics kits comes with it doesnt state an intake.

the listing is at this link, which I'm sure alot of us have seen. TurboKits.com Turbonetics Scion tC Turbo Kit & More

So from what I was told by friends today, this kit should have everything i need correct?...running on a stock engine

I have the turbonetics kit BEST CHOICE I MADE FOR MY tC
a CAI will not work with it
the kit comes with an short ram AEM w/ a dry flow filter
if u dnt wanna go with coilovers .. get some shocks/struts w/ ur springs
i had a megan drift spec exhaust but eventually sold it and bought the GReddy Evo 2 .. i dunno how it will sound with the kit .. the angled tip kept burning my rear lip
you'll need sway bars to keep you sterdy on the road
gauges also
BOOST/VAC
WIDE BAND O2
OIL PRESSURE
invest in a LSD to help wit wheel hop and cornering ( both wheels will spin instead of one sending power to the other )
get a stand alone so u can get rid of the stock ECU
make sure u get GREAT tires .. don't be cheap wen it comes to tires .. remember this is ur life
anything else just ask

Don't buy any exhaust products from MR. They are poorly designed, so-so quality control, and their Stainless Steel rusts (coated). That is what I have seen from several headers and s-pipes. There are much better quality setups out there. Don't go cheap here. Correctly tuned exhaust is very important.

As for running an FMIC, think about going water/meth injection. It is a technology that has matured abit in the past few years and often overlooked. The FMIC would look sweet and net you a gain, but you will be loosing 1~2 PSI. A S/C causes drag on the engine, so you are wasting HP to loose PSI. Doesn't sound very efficient. I hope to have my setup completed soon. I decided to wait till I get my car back into Kenny Tran's capable hands before I drop in the 14.5 pulley and the 550CC injectors. It is safer, smarter, and I want to see if my S/C enchancements have improved on the efficiency of the TRD.

Calling Brian Crower tomorrow to get the status on those cams. Everyone cross your fingers.
