220-270 whp is a wide range. You can achieve 230 with a supercharger. But if your mind is set on turbo I wouldnt but a cheap kit because you get what you pay for. Cheap kit = cheap parts = blown engine.

if i go with a supercharger, is there aftermarket one besides the trd, cuz thats is mad money.
Yes im pretty sure there is another aftermarket, but it sucks. Real bad. From what ive heard. Plus the TRD lets you keep your warranty. If you just wanted the 220 or 230 whp then go with the s/c if you want your 250-270 go turbo.

better to spend the extra cash and go with what's proven to work than to cut corners with something like that. most things with performance you get what you pay for
just bolting on my turbokit with out a tune gives 244 whp .. that should say it all![]()

yea you have to be less concerned about power when deciding on the s/c or turbo. overall it's way cheaper to do s/c - unless you have plans to tune it beyond normal capabilities.
+300 ft/lbs torque is my goal so turbo is the only way!
u can go with the s/c .. but do full exhaust catless (header s-pipe catback no cat use a straight pipe) good luck passing emission tests tho.. cold air intake .. 15-20 psi pulley .. u would get a good 2 and change to the wheel

With a 9psi pulley and tune you can get around 230-240. Im shootin for 300 to the wheels. I am taking donations.

Heres how I'm going to get 300whp put of the supercharger.
14.5psi pulley
AEM piggyback
professional tune
Intercooler
and run straight pipes (maybe)
and a couple mods to my tranny but idk yet.
Its going to be a long project, and way more expensive than a turbo, but turbo is too easy.
I am also going to run new Cams when they come out and maybe forged internals.
I like to do things the hard way, and a lot of this will be custom, so +1 ar car shows!

true for the uniqueness. i cant see anyone else willing to go that far with the s/c. but props for the attempt and even more if you're successful with it!
gonna be loud with those straight pipes!
thats the reason y i second guess straight pipes on mine.. i hav a guy that'll pass me on emission'z wit no problems .. its just my nosey a** neighbors who complain .. i had my N/A set-up with I/H/E and it was crazy loud .. they had a fit .. pissed me off

my friend with the civic is straight piped and it's ridiculous loud. he doesnt have a horn so revving is how he announces his prescene. you cant talk to him in the car until he gets to 5th gear!
Way ahead of ya'll on this one. My goal is 300WHP w/o cams or head work. I expect 280WHP+ on an OMG gas is $5 a gallon street tune. Searching thru my old dyno logs from my Greddy and discovered that I actually hit 228.4WHP at 8PSI, instead of 9PSI+ on 88octance w/ 10% Ethanol and stock TRD intake. To increase performance you can polish out the inside of the compressor scroll (rough cast aluminum), rebuild with ceramic ball bearings from Chris Mealde (Added efficiency for spinning with a smaller pulley), and design a better intake (working on a final design as we speak).
Two suggestions from experience. First, run a h20/meth injection setup. It is more efficient than a FMIC or air-to-water IC so no pressure drop (why waste power for nominal gains?). The Methanol also gives a slight octane boost. Since max boost only occurs at redline, it can be set to come on at 70% max boost. Boost under under 7PSI does not have the thermal saturation as higher boost. That means a small reservoir would be sufficient. Companies like Snow Performance have smart injection systems that can activate off MAP or TPS. They can even output to an emanage unit to advance and retard timing/fuel trims.
The second recommendation is the exhaust. S/C are not like their turbo cousins. They actually need some backpressure to aid in exhaust scavaging during valve overlap. Since the boost builds linearly with usable boost coming on gradually around 4K RPM, a 4-2-1 header is highly recommended to further cylinder scavaging. 2.5" ID pipe, high flow metallic cat, upgraded resonators, and an efficient muffler is all that you need. Anything over that ID or one of those huge turbo mufflers is just wasting efficiency.
Stock tC's have dyno's from 136~152WHP. Stock TRD S/C installs have dyno'd just shy of 200WHP. That makes for far more increase than 40BHP, especially considering that is Brake Horse Power. It is a Vortech V-5 trim that is just hampered by TRD's CARB compliance tuning and the inefficient pulley shaft drive system. For $1800 (05-06 manual) + $100 9PSI~10PSI pulley gets you 210~230WHP out of the box w/o extensive mods is far cheaper that even a Stage 0 turbo kit plus your warranty. That is why I am trying to develop an alternative drive system for the TRD to be a retofit setup. Wish me luck.
