Tha'ts how they are KTee, just the way it is. Having a girl who isn't involved but is enthusiastic about autmotives is the best.

I just made an appointment to get my supercharger installedand mentioned my aftermarket CAI and the guy didn't say the couldn't re-install it afterwords. Maybe because he didn't hear me, or maybe they don't have a problem installing it. I'd like to hear from someone who has a s/c though to make sure im right. AKA navy lol
thanks

Scion does offer the TRD CAI which is basically an Injen piece. A dealer installed intake should not be a problem. The TRD S/C is only CARB compliant with the factory airbox. As such, one would postulate that on the airbox could be installed by the Dealer.

Interesting, so even a CARB compliant Intake with the S/C makes for an illegal combination?

i thought the TRD CAI was an AEM piece? anyway, would any CAI/SRI fit? is the only problem the dealer not wanting to install an aftermarket part?
why does weapon r make an intake specifically designed for the s/c if anything will fit?
This whole S/C +intake is confusing.
Even if the S/C and the Intake are both CARB legal, the combination of the two makes it non-compliant. I think that to be strange.

In CA, its a serious issue.
A cop with a bad attitude and having a bad day, can mean your cars gets impounded.
Even if its for a CAI without CARB numbers.
There are very few places in the USA where street racing is as bad as it is in CA.

Injen/AEM/TRD, they are all the same to me. The issue with running these intakes is the filter media. You will notice that the TRD kit mods the factory airbox to add a second, carbon filter. This was added to maintain CARB compliancy for Cali.

Is it fair to say that the TRD S/C was designed to run effectively and safely with the factory Airbox, thus meaning, with all compliance in line, I should expect greater longevity out of the S/C?

Yes, it was designed to run with the airbox. No, it will not hurt your S/C to run a good quality intake. You have to make sure that the MAF is locate the same distance from the S/C. When the MAF takes flow measurements, it does so with time points as markers. If the MAF senses, let's say, 2.6 cuft at a given time point, it is going to expect that same volume of air at the TB in a certain amount of milliseconds. If you take the MAF and move it a foot over, that shifts the amount of time that it takes for that same volume of air to make it to the TB. This, in effect, should kill off idle and any partial OT to WOT response and visa versa.
