    Default EMS: E-manage vs. Unichip

I apologize in advance if this is a repost. I was unable to find a thread about it on this forum. Some other forums have talked about the subject, but those folks don't seem nearly as knowledgable as you guys.

So, you turbo guys out there: eManage or Unichip? I hear it takes more effort to get the Ultimate eManage up to par with the Unichip. However, only certain tuners can work on the Unichip. Truth or Fiction?

What are your experiences with each?

    Thanks!

From what I know and my personal experience with the Greddy Ultimate, it all depends on the skill level and experience of the tuner. Kenny Tran tuned my Ultimate. He honestly told me that he had not much experience with that unit. He also said that he could tune all day long an AEM EMS, HKS or Motech unit rather easily. Although he did not have the experience with the Ultimate, his skill made short work in figuring it out. With the UniChip you are getting a set program that is tuned for a specific setup. Change the parameters of that setup enough and you will have to send it off to be retuned. As far as I know, there is no way for you to take it any tuner to have it remapped. That in lies the problem; lack of UniChip authorized tuners.

    Ahhhh, got it!

That would definetly be a valid concern. A few years after installing the turbo (or months if I get ancy) I intend to upgrade some things (particularly the fuel injectors on the Greddy or the exhaust manifold on the Turbonetics). So insuring the EMS can be remapped is a concern. Thank you!

    Any other opinions out there?

I just loathe the fact that you have to flip a hard to get to DIP switch.

It won't hurt. You might be able to add a 1/2 degree of timing.
