To answe all of your posts:

    1. Serpentine belts are expensive. They always have.
    2. The belt has to be the right size. Too small and you can't fit it on. Too big, even by 1/2" and your S/C pulley will slip. When you change the pulley to up the boost, you are actually changing to a smaller size pulley, thus a smaller belt.

    3. You can call NST for the correct size for what you have. They can also sell it to you.
    4. Not sure about the tamper-proof nut on the new style S/C.

My friend has the key to the pulley. Its not from toyota, but he works on engines for a living, and one of the keys he had from a set fit! only problem is that the key is only sold in a set that sells for like $250

Yup, I get it now. I'm trying to figure out which pulley kit I would need/want and what belts apply to it. It's just more complicated than I initially thought.

    Thanx for the help though.

Man, I need help with this. I am so damn confused.

I am looking at two different sites that sell the NST pulley's, one which sell them in "kits" where I had my eye on the kit that had the Crank Pulley, Alt Pulley and WP pulley.
    https://www.wesellcarparts.com/store...dCategory=2450

And the actual NST website, where it looks like they don't sell them in a 3 pc "kit" that includes all 3 like the other does.
NST - The Leader In Scion tC Pulleys

In addition, it looks like they are available in stock size AND smaller size, but I can't tell which is which on either site!

Bottom line, I am interested in replacing the CR pulley, Alt pulley and WP pulley and want to lose as much weight as possible and need some direction here. I thought I understood what my plan of attack was, but now I'm really confused. Help!

That sux. Guess we're SOL if we want to go with that plan. It's either void the warranty or don't replace that pulley.

The warranty on the TRD SC is 12 months, unlimited miles within those 12 months. I suppose one could always wait a year... Or just risk it.

IF TRD is installed by the Dealer, the warranty is actually matched to the car's power train warranty. If that is less than 12 months, then it reverts to 12 months. 12 months is the standard warranty for self install.

Jay66 - You can call NST and they will set you up. Evn if you don't buy direct from manufacturer, it still is best to get your info directly from them.

I asked my friend to verify the warranty on this, based on the info you shared. I'd really like to get that cleared up. Maybe he missed something when I asked, or I misunderstood...

Re the NST pulley's, I guess I'll just wait until I'm ready to get that all set up and worry about it then and contact them for some info. It's just frustrating because I don't understand 100%, and I don't like to not understand something fully when I am planning ahead. Oh well. Thanx for the help.

Awesome, I saved that info. Thanx...

BTW, forgot to mention, my friend at the dealer confirmed you are correct (as if I ever doubted you...) The warranty is 12 months, or the remainder of the power train, which ever is greater.
