    Default Hydrogen Cell

Has anybody contemplated hydrogen cells for their Scion tC. I've been reading about it and it looks like a good idea however the practicality and benefits seem like they are still up in the air for discussion.

I've read people saying that they get up to between 25-30 percent more mileage form their systems. I've also read about people who have no more mileage but their car "feels" more powerful.

Curiosity will probably prompt me to try this invention, however I'm fishing for anybody who has knowledge and or experience with this first.

I have confidence building one of these devices as i have already built on in the past for one of my AP Science classes back in the day so I don't see that being too big of an issue to me.

These systems are inefficient as they require more energy to make the Hydrogen. That is if they acually work. I just use a 6 pack of Red Bull to get an extra 1/2 MPG.

I don't think the tiny wings of your back have enough "wing"hp to give your tC any added performance even with a 100 fogger shot of direct port red bull injection system.

However you may see a performance increase with a 150 red bull fogger shot and a turbo-roider you may get a small amount of lift off but here's the big question or questions. 1. and you drive a flying car with your vings and continue to drink your red bulls, possible but your motor will probably pop and you'll crash. and 2. turbo-roiders have been claimed by many to reduce long term physical male performance and I don't think any of us want to go throw destroying our flight motors.

To conclude I've done more research on hydro cells and despite the claims of fuel efficency I've decided not to do it. The reason being, a hydrogen cell is kinda like an armed bomb only in the back of you car.... Get rear ended BOOM... So I put it in the front for ease of access the intake. That's nice but then I rear end someone else and BOOM.

Plus I don't even want to think about the legality, if any, behind having something so potentially dangerous in a vehicle.

Oh, forgot to mention the key and most important ingredient to my Red BS superfuel; Jaggermeister.

Hydrogen and LP gas has been used as fuel for industrial warehouse forklifts for decades, safely. Well, that is, except for the nutjobs who drive them.

MMMm yes, I believe I am going to heavily enjoy this forum Jagger is my most favorite especially with Red Bull and or Bawls.

I've been reading around and i think I'm going to keep my tC instead of selling it for an EVO IX

I have a mechanic friend that works installing these hydrogen systems (not kits) on those big transport trucks. He said it boosts around 5 - 10 mpg. This is really good for a truck. My friends neighbor also did one on his RX-8 and "says" he gets around 40mpg. I kind"a" trust him, as he didn't buy a kit, rather he built it himself.

I've seen them run for around 200$. I'd say test it.

Hydrogen is extremely flammable. From what I used to remember from Chemistry, the reason gasoline cars are said to be inefficient was because we don't have a technology that can burn up all the fuel. If you Google it, there was a formula that shows the yield. As you know every chemical reaction has to yield something... in our case carbon. So if mixing hydrogen gas with Gasoline gas makes it combust more... it’s worth the shot.

If you do it, please post your results

The chemical reaction of hydrogen with hydrocarbons is not what is debatable . The Space Shuttles' main engines burn a mix of hydrogen and oxygen (the 2 parts of water). It is all about the ability to efficiently produce Hydrogen in a vehicle that can sustain the chemical reaction to effect MPG. If you carried around a large, compressed bottle of hydrogen, then this is possible in a passenger vehicle. Diesel rigs and trucks utilize propane injection to boost power for towing which requires a large propane tank to be installed. These "kits" on the market are just not capable of developing enough Hydrogen to make it useful.

hydrogen blowing up while driving is what used to be said about gasoline...your driving around with a tank of Gasoline in back.... Eh, if its not the gas its the hydrogen...or the other way around. Besides thats when the " I power my car with hydrogen... rear end me and we both die :-)" bumber sticker works well

    whoa now i am thirsty....

Just don't drive a Ford Pinto or a GMC pickup with an incendiary rocket on the gas tank and you will be fine. Gasoline does not explode like in the movies. It will engulf your vehicle in flames in a heart beat. The gasoline is in a liquid state and post 60's gas tanks vent the gas vapors. It is the gas vapors that can explode if in a confined space (tennis ball can and kerosene). Hydrogen is a gas and has more energy potential which makes is far more dangerous but not that much more than a tank full of propane.
