Default To supercharge or not to supercharge...

well, im thinking of getting the trd supercharger, for my 09 scion tC.

just wondering for those that do have a s/c, any problems with it if i am using it as a everyday daily driving car?

reason i odnt want to get it turbo'd is because it is way too much high maitanence and from what i hear, its not good for everyday driving?

but yeah just wanted to get yalls input i plan on doing this in order...

    1. Trd supercharger
    2. Greddy Ti-c race catback exhaust or the turbo edition one not sure which on yet...
    3.Injen CAI intake
    4. headers, but still not sure, i need to read a little more on them, some ppl are saying weapon r headers suck and are cheap some say awesome! gotta find out whats good for the tc as well lie 4-2-1 or 4-1.
    5. brakes brakes brakes!

    6. suspension...

any input would be awesome, please keep critism to a low. thanks. im waiting to hear what navy will say about this lmao. alsoif yall have dyno's with things on please show them. i was goign to get my car dyno'd stock at jotech racing but, my friend beat me too it, he said his was around the mid 140's to the wheel. corect?

You in the Texas area? I have seen stock dyno numbers range from 143~152WHP. It all depends on the dyno, climate, number of runs, gas, etc. There is plenty of discussion on TRD or turbo in our Force Induction section. Look at the stickies.

If you are going S/C, are you going to install yourself (aka not at the Dealership)? If you choose the Dealer route for the extended warranty, then you need to keep your power mods off till the TRD has been in for a while (a few months). If you show up with a header and want the Dealer to install, they are most likely going to say no.

    1. Suspension.
    2. Axle-back
    3. TRD S/C
    4. Header 4-2-1 is best with WR being the only one. It also comes with s-pipe.
    5. Brakes; SS brake lines and upgraded slotted rotors. Stock pads are good for street and no need for BBK unless your racing on a track.

yeah i do live in texas lol dallas area, well more like denton but yeah.

so it should be best if i did the aftermarket stuff in that order that you listed? wondering why suspension is first of course for better handling but anything else? cause if i decided to drop it bit, wouldn't i need to know how much to drop since the exhaust might be sitting low or something like that?

and yes i will be getting it installed at the dealership why not if it breaks, i'll have them fix it, but as for the other aftermarket parts, my friend and i will be putting them on. its the best part about it lmao.

I am from G-Town (Garland). I will be living East of Big D somewhere north of Tyler.

If you plan on building power, you should build up the platform first. It is safer that way. Too many people dump a turbo in stock car then find out too late that their stock suspension, tires, and brakes could not handle it. The stock tC suspension only need a little modification to make it a very stable and capable platform. Lowering springs, rear swaybar, and front strutbar are all that you need to get started.

Investing in better tires is your next step. The stock brakes are fairly adequate. Just changing to slotted and/or cross-drilled rotors really make the brakes come alive.

oooOoooo very nice, so after all is said and done, lets just say, i worked on my suspension doing the works to it, and investing in some better tires, and maybe brakes. supercharge? is it alright to drive everyday with it, cause i am using my tc as an everyday car... do about 1k-1.5k worth of miles a month. but i do oil changes every 3k.

Nothing really changes except that you need to run a higher octane gas. When I would take my 9 hour drive back home to Texas, I would run 87 Octane because the motor ran at a constant speed. I would also not load up the engine. This was even at 9PSI and no piggyback at the time. I usually ran 89 Octane unless I was out racing around. My car has been supercharged since 6K miles and it is now at 47K. You will have no worries unless your unit is defective. If Dealer installed, then it gets the powertrain warranty.

They shouldnt have a problem with the parts already being on there, just make sure you get all the parts back that they take off. They tried to tell me I didnt have an aftermarket intake on my car after I got it back from being supercharged. GHEY

I kind of disagree. They may not offer any kind of warranty with the supercharger if they see that he already has previous mods.

I had an intake header and exhaust and they didnt say a word. I think it may differ from dealer to dealer though

CAI will be replaced by the upgraded factory airbox in the kit. Putting a CAI in after the TRD install will be wrought with problems as the grams/sec airflow will be off too much. The aftermarket s-pipe will have no ill-affects on the TRD but may cause a MIL once the TRD is installed. This is why you should reinstall the stock one till your TRD is installed.

Yes, it is best to keep your stock parts until you either run your warranty out or get to the point that you have modded yourself out of warranty.
