    Default Consequences of Forced induction

What are some of the consequences associated with forced induction. I know one obvious side effect is that gas mileage goes down and that one has to change the oil in the car more frequently. Are there any others?

    boom boom pow.

Our cars wernt meant to have a turbo meant to hang off them, but with the right kit and the right tune all we really need to do it change the oil and we will be good.

If you neglect to find a good tune an aftermarket turbo can shorten the life of your engine or even cause detonation.

How do you know if you have a good tune though, besides the car not blowing up? Do you just seek someone who knows what they are doing and had a dyno and have them tune your fuel/engine management system?

Go to a reputable shop. Even if it mans traveling a far distance. If you are on the east coast I know of a lot of geed tuners. And You car will feel like it was turboed from the factory if you have a good tune. AFR's not too lean, nice driveability, smooth power curve.

I am on the east coast actually. I am prepared to travel if it means a job right on my car. Where are some of the shops that you would recommend?

Yeah those are all good tuner shops, plus if run a decent amount of boost, your car should last a good duration. I have a couple friends who claim that their turbo even gave them BETTER MPG. It has a lot with the way you drive also.

But of course, if you had a turbo, I doubt u would granny drive the car. You're also going to need a good fuel management that whoever you are going to (the tuner) is familiar with.

It all depends on what turbo you have. Example, Im gunning a GT28rs. Im running 10lbs stock motor, but If I were to run 10lbs with a gt35 stock motor, I would have some trouble.

Also If I stay in vacuum I will get 30-33mpg with my car. Its hard not to hit boost though.

A fully electronic/programmable boost controller should allow you to create a profile map that you can control the boost points. That is to say only 5lbs boost at 70% throttle above 2500RPM and below 4500RPM. Creating a window to boost and how much onset will provide you to build power in the powerband that you normally use during daily driving. I believe that the more expensive units have a scramble mode to momentarily override the current profile to build more boost quickly.
