Sorry, there are some lengthy times between logons for me. Still in the military.

Would suggest that you get a Stage 3 clutch from Spec or other company if you are planning on F/I. You will be needing the extra clamping force for the power levels you stated.

With a quality Stage I/II turbo kit with the right tuning, you can easily make 300WHP with no other mods, save, exhaust upgrades. Stock motor easily handles 10PSI on a turbo with the appropriate upgrades in the fuel system. Cams are not needed for this power but if you do decided on the Brian Crower Stage II F/I cams, you will also need the matching headwork to get the full benefit.

Okay and by head work you mean ported polished blued and all that good stuff right becuase i have the facilities and the tools to do that now on the valves should i replace those as well i dont wanna spend to much but the labor part of it i can pretty much do all the valve work and head work myself or at least my uncle can he works on engines just on a much larger scale somewhere in the 100k horse power range desiel engines. So i might do the Turbo first and all the fuel mods. Now i have read that this ECU is non Tunable is that still the case today or has someone figured out how to crack the computer becuase i have a really nice laptop that i wanted to hook up.

    Default okay updates

Okay so i have an update i am going to be getting a 16g turbo with a 10.5 hotside.with a intercooler not sure on the model yet. and a 3inch downpipe for it as well. so now this is what i need to know whats a good BOV thats not too expensive something to get me by as well as a decent manual boost controller and a good exhaust system i am hoping to keep the Cat and go from there back but if i have to replace the Cat and go from there back thats fine. Just really really need some help from some people that do this and understand this.

My plans are to get everything in and run low boost untill i can replace the BOV the controller the fuel rail fuel injectors and possibly going with a complete standalone system to get up to 9 psi i dont wanna push my luck and get above 10 psi becuase i read on here that 10 is the max without rebuilding the engine. So please give me some ideas on exhaust and BOV and a manual boost controller please.. thanks guys

As far as head work goes, leave it to a professional shop. The head is aluminum with machined surfaces that are not very forgiving to a heavy handed grinder. The right tool to do the right job. Most people replace the stock valves becuase they are 1mm upsizing. Have yet to hear of any stock valve failures, not to say that there hasn't been. As long as your not exceeding 6500 RPM you should be fine. Stock limiter, which just so happens to be set in the encrypted ECM, is actually 6,375 RPM according to the Tech Manual. You might be interested in this new offering from Dezod, Dezod Motorsports. Allan Phillips Racing In-line ECU-Scion tC 05-10 (DEZOD EXCLUSIVE). It has the cost of a stand-alone but incorporates into the factory sensors and retains the ECM for an easier, more streetable setup. I am researching into this unit now and might adopt into it.

Descendant has a new killer turbo kit that is set to make the power. Rule of thumb is 10PSI for daily driver with a turbo on a stock motor/fuel system. At 10PSI you should start upgrading the fueling system and have a well mannered and tuned piggyback. Daily driver power level on pump gas is going to be around 300WHP or a little more depending on setup/tune. 400WHP can be achieved with a stock motor but that is reaching near it's limits.

Cadence, this brings to mind something that falls in line with our PM conversation. Do you remember the old argument that boost is boost and it does not matter whether it comes from a S/C or a turbo? I will have to see if I have that thread archived somewhere. It is a generally accepted value that 10 PSI is the max for daily driver with a stock motor. Would you agree? So if that holds water then how am I running 15 PSI on a stock motor, pump gas, and no intercooling method on a daily driver? Hmm, maybe this navy dude knows what he is talking about? I have proved my point that boost is not always boost when the source is different.

Okay so your saying i can push 10 psi on stock fuel system and be okay no upgrades needed now if i wanted to go above that i need to boost my fuel injectors and i am assuming the fuel rail and the pump. now i am using a g16 turbo and i am going to have to have my exhaust manifold custom made becuase no one makes one for this turbo but i was lucky and got a race head with the turbo and the guy that is putting me in is known all over texas for his work so he said he can do it and i am trusting him. Now i was planning on maxxing out on 10 psi but if your saying that the engine can handle that stock than maybe i will consider a better boost controller i was just going to go with a 10 psi max manual boost controller. but maybe 15 psi would be a better max boost lvl for this car. I plan on going with a fuel system at some point but 1800 bucks is a little much right now ya know.

And navy this is a proven fact what you say a turbo is alot more stressfull on a motor than a supercharger but a supercharger robs power to produce power so its kinda not as much power for the same psi i think is the correct wording =) not sure on that but i know a supercharger is considered parasitic power.

You do have to have the right sized injectors, tuning, excellent boost controller, 93 Octane fuel, and large enough FMIC to make it safe and reliable for daily driving. The trick is to have a lower Psi street map and a 10 PSI race map so yo u are not hitting max all of the time. Might have to upgrade the fuel pump to Walbro 255lph if you have trouble getting it tuned.

In case you need to upgrade your fuel pump.
