    Default What to upgrade after the turbo

    Alright it's time to turn the noob switch on and get asking..The turbo is coming in July and I know once I have it I'll be looking to get more boost out of it and who knows..maybe even a nitro kit but lets leave that out of the picture for now..
    My question is: once I get the turbo and want to upgrade the boost what are the "weakest links" that I'll want to upgrade in my engine as to not tear it to shreds? Knowing a few of them would be awesome!
    Cheers,

    Beck

    * pistons
    * heads
    * injectors
    * fuel pump
    * radiator
    * tranny/clutch
    * port/polish (if you can find a shop that will do it, well worth it IMO)

    These are what I would upgrade, I am sure there are more. Check w/ Dezod.com and FastScions.com as well.

    Thanks as always CadenceScion That list you gave me, is that in order of what you'd do or just a list of things that I need to take care of down the road?

    Its not in any specific order, but you can upgrade them however you choose. If you do happen to go NOS in the future, get a TB spacer and tap/drill a hole in it for the spray nozzle. Your more than welcome Beck!

    Piston ring lands are the first to give way to excessive boost, generally on these motors. A Shipmate in my Squadron said he blew a connecting rod but that was on a N/A motor. Either way, the rule of thumb is to replace the pistons and rods at the same time. Not required but good practice to have the entire rotating assembly (pistons, rods, and crank) balanced along with a new set of bearings. The piston rings should also be upgraded if going to boost.
