    Default S/C vs Turbo

So how much is the S/C kit? and what would i be pushing. I was going to go and get a turbo and try pushing 8-9 psi ( told about 250-270 whp) the TRD S/C is what 6-7 psi? and 200 whp. So if i could turn up the boost ( hear that an overdriven alternator pully does this?) to about 9 psi would i be looking at 230-250 whp, i mean 3000 for the charger plus install and the reflash would be how much total? then probably as i get closer to 2500 whp im looking at clutch slippage, so another 900-1000 to replace the clutch. i figured the turbo was going to run 6500-7500 depending on labor and tuning costs ( included would be a clutch with that price) just wondering which will give me results and be cost efficent ( if i can get 240 whp from upgrading the S/C i think id go with that)

The TRD S/C kit is no longer offered by Toyota. You can still find it on the net with a few retailers or purchase a slightly used one for cheap price. One place was selling out their stock at $1850.00 but I can't remember who it was.

The S/C comes with just under 200WHP out of the box. 192~199WHP had been seen on the dyno. Upgrading to a 9.5PSI pulley will net between 220~230WHP. 15PSI pulley will net about 270~280WHP with supporting mods.

The ECM has control issues with piggybacks, so whatever you get on the dyno you will need to subtract atleast 10WHP from it. In some cases, the ECM will pull back timing to a more conservative level over 20WHP less. The ECM with the TRD reflash has proven to work effectively by itself even up to 15PSI in 107F heat and no intercooler as proven by me.

so if i want 250 whp i should probably look at turbo and get it tuned, i hear it would be 9 psi for a turbo to give me around that number. Also would be interested in a boost controller so im not running that in the snow. If i crank a S/C up to 15 psi im guessing i would be looking at about 5-6 k in parts and install anyway right?

The Greddy Stage 0 turbo kit is purported to be at 240WHP out of the box.

That's the kind of power you'll have with a supercharger... go go go from the moment you step on it until redline.
It begs for more and you can give it more. No lag, no spool up delay. Keep shrinking the pulley just boosts the power... with proper tuning of course.

Turbo, S/C, NOx; it does not matter much when you have no traction. Best to build up your traction before power.
