Default Turbo researching and need help.

I have been researching turbos for over a year and really want to boost my 06 tC. I read that you can run 5 psi with out an intercooler, tune, upgraded inj, or management. Is this true? If so I will be stoked. Its not that I don't plan on getting all of these. Its just the up front expenses. Possible or no? Thanks for the good or bad news.

Yes you can run 5 psi without those.. but I would seriously consider getting injectors with fuel management. The intercooler is not essential.. but managing the correct air/fuel is vital.. it's the quickest way to blow up your engine..

The Dezod S1 Turbo System is a great kit that will include injectors, fuel management, and an intercooler

Very true. Even the TRD S/C comes stock @ 7PSI with bigger injectors (440cc) and a retune though there have been a few people have run this w/o the TRD reflash. They did not blow their motors but that car slightly worse. You could possibly run the OEM 380cc injectors at just 5PSI, but they would most likely be saturated which could lead out to a lean situation. Best to do it right.

For example, I have a TRD S/C setup that is running 15PSI at redline. It is solely controlled by the ECM with the TRD map flashed. I have no intercooler but running 550cc injectors and a 3" ID MAF housing. I am only making 217WHP/214TQ due to engine control issues. The car runs near normal most of the time but goes thru cycles of hunting idles and dying. When I finally get an engine control solution and dial my MAF in, I should be making alot more power and have a smoother running engine. Running a small turbo at a modest 5PSI, it could be tuned off the MAF by altering the characteristic airflow in grams/sec to alter long-term fuel trims. You have to know what you are doing or you could really screw things up. Best to go with a proven setup. Trial and error could end up costing you a motor.

I'm thinking about instead of getting a turbo kit just getting the items needed and prolly boosting at 7 psi with just headers down piping exhaust and of course new injectors. I dont wanna do anything too serious before doing internal work

I just dyno'd my car today and I made 304whp on 15psi on factory internals with boost creep. I am very pleased with it. make sure you get a piggy back and get a good tune. Before my tune i was only making 208whp. so i highly suggest a tune.
