Default 2007 Scion tC...What to do to it?..

I'm not going to even pretend I know anything about cars, because I know nothing about them, But i have a good friend who does, big into street racing and drifting... He told me he'd help me get into the racing world and help me work on my car, but first i'm trying to get some insight on what i should do to it.

I'm not trying to go for the freakin' first place trophy right away, just looking to get my foot in the door right now

    some info on my car

2007 Scion tC, automatic not a stick, stock engine 161 hp

I want it to go faster that

i keep hearing alot about cool air intakes
also about turbo kits for automatic cars
    and something about a supercharger

i sound really lost and stupid but thats why im on here, to get some info

    anything helps

    thanks..

    Welcome to Club-tC.com!

If your looking to go performance oriented, you have two options:

    (1) N/A - Naturally Aspirated
    (2) F/I - Forced Induction

In my opinion and being the owner of a 2006 Scion tC (Auto), I would start off w/ a Cold-Air Intake, Light Weight Crank Pulley, Header and Exhaust. To make the drive even more appreciated, I would also upgrade the suspension by upgrading the rear sway bar, a strut bar, lowering springs, struts and urethane engine and transmission bushings. The skies the limit w/ the Scion tC, so make your own statement. If you have any questions, just ask and don't be afraid to read the Tech Section and New Members Section here on Club-tC, lots of helpful stuff there.

Don't sell yourself short. You did know to come on here. We all started at zero with our knowledge of autos at one point in time. What type of racing are you looking at doing? A car setup for road racing won't necessarily be suited for drag racing and vice versa. Having automatic will make the learning curve alot easier but it can take you only so far. There are limitations on how much torque it can handle and the gearing does not make for good drag launches. I have never raced one thru the twisties so I am not sure how suited the auto is for that. Cadence is our more authoritarian source on the U241E autos. There just aren;t any parts to upgrade the trans , nor is there a limited slip option. When the time comes and your skill level is proficient enough, you might consider picking up a used tC with the E350 manual to make as a dedicated track car.

No need to pick up used manual tC, just swap your auto transmission to a manual. I know plenty of other Scion owners doing this, it can be done.

That can be expensive unless you just happen to luck upon a donor car. My Fiancée wants to convert my manual RS3.0 to auto so that she can drive it. Shhh! I told her it was impossible due to the cost involved. If she ever found out that it would be easy to find someone to do a complete swap, I would be sunk.
