    Default Trottle body spacers

I've been looking at a couple throttle body spacers for the tC, and was wondering whether to go with the smooth bore spacer or a Helix style bore?

I am a bit skeptical about TB spacers but they seem to be all the rage. Made common sense on carburetored engines, but fuel injection is a different beast when it comes to plenum area. If you must go with one, then go for the smooth bore. The Helix style is voodoo snake oil much like the Turbonator.

I have the AirRaid TB Spacer installed on my tC and it works great, never gave me ant issues and the install was very straight forward.

I say they are worth it. Plus IMO if you can cyclone the air coming in verses normal flow, the change is noticeable. You may even get a few more ponies and more MPG's.

I just added the House of Billet throttle body spacer. I like the blow off valve sound it makes. And my car does feel a bit beefier. That could also be, because I fixed an exhaust leak at the same time lol.

What intake are you using and is it a SRI or CAI? The whistling noise that you hear is one of the reasons OEM put Helm-Holtz Resonators on the intake path just after the MAF.

I'm inclined to agree with Navylife on this one. Throttle body spacers on carburated engine removed the carburators from the manifolds a bit, reducing heat propogation to the fuel metering systems and keeping teh fuel denser as well as reducing the tendency for vapor lock. In a multiport injected system, there's no fuel going through the throttle body, only air. and the throttle body is isolated from the metals through which the heat travels. I can't see the benefit.

Regarding turbulance, it's well known that the fluid dynamics within the cumbustion chamber affect wavefront propogation and thus power and emissions, but I can't see how creating turbulance back at the throttle body can affect fluid dynamics within the combustion chamber.

Perhaps there really is something to this, but of so I don't see it.
