Default Rattle Fix #2

Written By: Alex8181

Difficulty (1-5): 2
Time Frame: 1 Hour

Please review this whole article before you plan to do this. This is an article to show you how to remove a few plastic pieces from the roof of the car. It looks like the pieces are used keep the shape of the headliner on the edges. After I removed the plastic pieces the headliner still retains its shape for me. You may still want to review the article and decide for sure this is what you want to do.

Step 1: First pull this plastic clip in the center and to the rear of the headliner.

Step 2: Use a flathead screwdriver to pull open the cover on this plastic hook. Than use a phillips screwdriver to remove the bolt.

Step 3: Near the bottom of the rear corner panel is a black bolt that connects the trunk panel to the bottom of the corner panel. Remove this bolt.

Step 5: Start pulling the corner panel off the car by starting at the top and moving your way down.

Step 6: Use a flathead screwdriver covered with a cloth to remove the dome light. Stick the screwdriver in the center and slowly pry it open.

Step 7: Now go to the front of the car and remove the roof handles. Use a flathead to pry open the cover at the end of the handle. It is on pretty tight so you'll want to use a fairly small flathead.

Step 8: The handle is held on by metal clips. Squeeze the end of the metal clips together with some needle nose pliers and it will release the handles.

Step 9: Go to the visors and remove the bolts holding on the visors.

Step 10: Remove the front corner panels just like the rears by pulling from the top to the bottom.

Step 11: Now that the headliner is free, you can start to remove the plastic fins. They are lined along the sides of the roof. Just pull the sides of the headliner down and you will see the plastic fins. There are 2 pieces on each side and they are held on by small plastic clips. Just grab a hold of the end of the clips and pull outwards.

Step 12: These are the plastic fins once they are removed from the car. Once they are removed re-install the interior and you are good to go. Enjoy your rattle free car!
