For a while now I have been cruising and doing some shopping around for a Scion TC. I've been to the dealership and I can't seem to find the price range I want. I noticed even the used Scions from 05 and 06 are still relatively near the same price range as the new 2007's....so if I get one, I would really enjoy having a NEW one.....even if I have to spend a few extra grand. I am just curious how you guys afforded your cars....I'm trying to get a car payment of about 250-260 range monthly......I'm guessing i'll have to put at least nearly 2000 down.....any hints or advice to a newcomer? I would love to get my hands on one of these cars.....i have been fishing for a nice black sand pearl one.....and they are very hard to find where I am......especially since I want automatic..... Helps and advice would be great guys. I test drove one of these cars this past weekend and loved it..... |

Ok, well how much did you put down when you bought the car .. and what was the MSRP of your car when you bought it? Just curious.

I put $6000 cash down, traded my car in for $2500. I believe the MSRP was around $18,000 (I believe) and all I got was an automatic. I wanted a spolier on my car, but they didn't have one on the lot. I had to come back so they could put my spolier on for free because I was going to go to another dealership.

No real help here. My payments are about $222 but I was "lucky" enough to be in an accident in which my old car was considered totaled and the insurance company gave the Bluebook value. So altogether I had a $7000 down payment. As for the prices of older tCs, Scions keep their value very well in the car market, that's why their prices seem high. I'd say your best bet would be to sit down with someone at the dealership and tell them what you want (car, color, payments, etc.) and most are very willing to help you out if they know they will make a sale in the end.
Also, I have a BSP, auto, and she is a beaut. Good luck in your search for your tC!

To help you out, I am a Scion Manager at a local Toyota dealer. First off I am sure that you are aware of Scion's pure pricing, which basically means, the price you see on the window sticker is the price you pay. A used Scion however is a different game all together. There is room to move in the price cause just like every other used car out there, they have been marked up. Honestly the tC is really holding it's value, which is good news to you because at least you know buying one will eventually bring a return in investment when you decide to get rid of it. Now a good rule of thumb is every $10,000 you finance is going to be $200.00 in payment. So if you are looking to finance $17,000 you can expect your payment to be around $375.00 a month. Now they only way you can bring that payment down is by putting cash down or if you have a trade involved. So realistically the only way you are going to achieve a payment of $250.00 is if you finance anywhere around $10,000 - $13,000 depending on your credit. So you would have have to put down anywhere between $4,000- $7,000. Hopefully this helps!

Buy one with a damaged title. Mine was repaired professionally, and I paid $6K less than a new one. BTW, it's for sale for $11,500 if you feel like driving to Montana one weekend. 5-speed, 35K miles, Silver.

The next major Scion event is the release of the xD. I have already had the opportunity to check it out and drive it, but that release should happen this summer. To answer your question forbidden, you can't give the car back. As soon as it gets registered, you are responsible to pay for it. Can't just decide to return it when you have had enough. The only way you can do that is if you leased the car through Toyota. Other than that you would have to pay it off, trade it in, or sell it. Why would you want to get rid of it anyway?

My questions is, are you driving the car? Have you already picked up the car from the dealership?
