Default Reverting back to stock exhaust- selling the TRD. HELP!

Ok, so i'm going to be removing my TRD exhaust from my car and going back to stock..... I've worked on muffler repairs before, but not the whole shabang. Anyone know of any DIYs for installing the TRD exhaust or removing it or anything? I figure i can just reverse engineer it.

I'll also be selling the trd exhaust for $300 or something like that. If you're interested, PM me. I'm located outside of philly PA.

Thanks!
Kevin

Why the change of heart? Don't like the sound?

It shouldn't be too hard to swap the systems.... if you have access to a lift, that will make your life even easier!

Yeah, it really gives me a headache

i think since i have an automatic, i can't play with the sound as much. i'm kinda at the whim of the auto as to what rpms it chooses etc. course i may just be a wuss. i think i was looking for a slightly different sound... maybe a CAI would provide more of what i'm looking for. with the automatic, its pretty much either highway (which sounds fine), idle (again, very nice) or 35 mph cruising around town (which is what gives me the headache).

my friend has a professional jack, no lift though.

i mean, the stock and trd are pretty much identical right? shape wise i mean.

i should just have to get under the car, remove the rubber holder thingers (assuming it's like other muffler pipes i worked with on my friends jetta years ago) and unscrew it, then just put the stock back on, right?

i haven't actually looked under there to be sure though...

W/D-40, a piece of carpet/carboard, and a 14mm wrench is all you need. Enlisting the aid of a friend would make this so easy. Trick here is not to scratch the TRD up.

BTW, if you have complaints about the loudness of the TRD then don't bother going with another axle-back. You won't be satisfied with them either.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I will have a friend help.

Yeah, I think i'm just going to stick with stock for now. If i want more power, i'll go with a CAI or something.

My RX-8 I used to drive had an incredible sound that came from the rotary engine... i know i can't get that exact sound, but i'd like to come close. Something at least a little more interesting than stock.

siskoda1, where are you located? would shipping be a concern.

Anyways, thanks for the advice. I'm sure i'll report back after i go back to stock.

if you don't want all the noise and decide to get another axleback check out the INJEN, juuuuust right for me, deep growl and it sounds sublime at high revs...oh and it won't give you a headache, unless you're a senior citizen

Ha! Well, i'm only 28, but perhaps my tuning desires put me in the senior citizen category....

What I really desire is a unique sound (something my RX-8 had with it's rotary engine- sweetest sound I've ever heard with more performance that won't give me a headache.

What kind of difference does a CAI make? Performance, not all that much so I gather, but what kind of sound difference does it make?

So I took off the TRD and am now back to stock... what a beautifully quiet sound it is. I love it.

Taking it off was SOOOOOOO easy btw. took 20 minutes.

a CAI will only allow you to hear more of the engines natural sound, with that of course it will slam more air into your engine probably giving you about 8-10 more HP, there's a difference, allbeit, not that much of one. however, if you pair a CAI with a decent catback then they will definitely compliment eachother, both in sound and power. you're just going to have to do some research on your own, get on youtube or google-video or something and look up a few sound clips of different exhausts on your scion to get a clearer idea, better than any we can describe to ya

We should have a sound/video database here for such things.

BTW... Call me grandpa, I'm tweaking at age 38
