Default wheel-mounting mishap??-thoughts

recently bought a slightly used set of stock wheels and tires for my 07 tC. upon changing out the rear passenger i was making my last run through the pattern and one of the lug nuts apparently has a few defects in its thread, so i ended up cutting damn near through one of the five mounting bolts. now it's pretty much ruined and has a bit of wiggle to it, i have the lug moderately tightened over the head of the mounting bolt so no debris gets in there. has anyone ever had this happen? and does anyone know if Toyota/Scion will give me a hard time trying to get it repaired under warranty? thanks.
