I have a 2006 tC and I have an Injen CAI but they make those so you can have it short ram or have it Cold Air, they even sell bypass valves so you can have a Cold Air Intake and not get water in your engine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but you have to pretty much submerge you intake in water for it to hydrolock. Hope this helps!

Here is the one that I bought, it comes with the bypass valve. I didn't install mine because after I made mine into CAI I saw that the filter is almost 100% protected by plastic shields. And when you install the intake to make it short ram you simply follow the instructions for the first section of the intake and just put the filter on the end of that, it will sit right where the stock air box used to be. Here is a link to the one I bought and a link to my cardomain page so you can see exactly what I'm talking about.

Finally, someone who sees the light about bypass valve/hydro-locking scare. Good on you to follow the truth.
