The first video demonstrates a product made by Luxury Motorworks called the LuxLink. It uses the stock key fob which is why he has to do those crazy key combinations to start the car.
In the second video, he just rewired his ignition to his lighter. |

Yes, thats what I said. It uses the stock key fob. The LuxLink interrupts the signal from the stock radio receiver, when it senses a certain key combination, in this case unlock, lock, lock, it initiates the auto start sequence. On most other auto-start products the radio receiver is in the after market unit, which is why you get a different fob, it uses a different frequency and encryption.

exactly, and its not a good idea to put an auto start in a manual anyway, if you accidentally leave it in gear your fvcked

Damn that sucks. There has to be a company out there that makes a unit that makes sure all that is in check before it starts. Like when you click to autostart it checks to make sure the brake is on and the car is in neutral before attempting to start. I remember a guy at the Subaru dealer told me a local place does it, but he didn't tell me where.

If car companies had a device built in to the car that knew what gear you were in, everyone and their mother would make an autostart that could do that. It can't be that hard to do, just some simple sensors somewhere.

Stores around my area aren't allowed "legally" to install an autostart on a manual transmission b/c of those reasons. Now the autostart isn't too hard to install and I have a few friends that put it on their manual cars. Personally, I'd rather take the extra 5 seconds to put my key in the ignition than fvck up my car.

The idea isn't to save time, because you still have to put the key in after you get in the car. The idea is to warm up your car so it can be nice and warm\cool when you get in. I still agree with the idea of not damaging the car. If they had one that included a way to tell if it is in gear then I would be all for it.
