Default Trd S/c

Hello, i just wanted to ask for other peoples opinion and knowledge about the development of this s/c. As we all know this s/c is the only one out on the market for us and i wanted to know y? At first i was thinking the only reason TRD is the only company that has a s/c is because of the company. I'm thinking because TRD is directly affliated with Toyota, that because the TRD owns the s/c that its a copyrighted product, therefore no other company can make s/c for us. This is just my "thought" on it, i dunno if this is true or not.

Because as we all know, nearly every other car as like a bunch of s/c options like i know Acura and Honda have like Jsracing, Jackson Racing, Comptech, and like some other ones, even the xB and xA have blitz. I just find it kind of sad for us not to have it. And yeh i know what some of you r thinking that that the reason the Acuras and Hondas as well as the xB n xA are sold outside the US, but whats funny is that superchargers are primarily produced right here in the US. Jackson racing for instance and comptech both are american companies right here in our own backyards.

I just feel that if we had more option for a supercharger, the tC by far will be playing with the big boys. Yeh im well aware of the turbos that can push like 600 whp, but like thats far different than a supercharger. And i personally want to see something like a 600whp supercharger for us. Of course thats pushing it a bit, but if u think about it, theres cars out there that can almost push 400-500 whp with a supercharger. It just a bit depressing sometimes to see how some cars have so much option on which way to go for power, while most of us tC who want a large amount of power can only go turbo. I've seen 311 whp supercharger and yeh thats pretty damn sick, but i dunno for our cars, its so beefy that it can hold so much more power and just to see 311whp with a supercharger just is depressing a bit. Im not like putting down the TRD s/c or anything, i just dont think it gives us enough potential that this car can actually handle. Cz we've all seen how much power our engines can really hold, and the fact that it just has to be turbo is sad.

One of the huge issues, is the layout of our engine. The intake manifold is on the reverse side of our engine bay. There is no room back there. Most aftermarket company use a roots type blower system, or a pulley shaft type system, like TRDS.
Because of room in the engine bay, a roots type is nearly impossible to install. And because of the lack of room upfront, a pulley shaft system needs to be extremely long to make room for the blower. The length steers companies away because of the issues it can, and has caused.
A rotating rod at those rpms at that length can quickly develope a shake and kill your bearings.

xB/xA's sold outside of the US? bB's are more than just rebadged xB's. They are made in different factories. The xA is more akin to the Japanese Toyota Matrix type vehicle. This is the car that started the Scion line. Other than the rebadged xA, the xB and the tC are only sold in the US market including the US territories.

Nick is correct on all points. An eaton blower, like for the xB could be installed on the tC, but it would require a completely different designed manifold. That would require beaucoup money and R&D to get CARB compliant again.
