Default Kenny Tran tC

Since joining the forum I have noticed all the talk that navy has been doing about Jotech racing and Kenny Tran, well the other day while I was on youtube I came across this video.

YouTube - Turbo tC versus Turbo Civic Hatch

What can I say, I like the guy. He is what you call "Good People", very honest and sincere. Did you know that he started out as a Honda guy racing his own Turbo Civic. He became rather impressed with Scion, the cars and the company, while building the original Nitto tC for SEMA. That is why he switched camps.

I actually checked out the website and was impressed with the shop he has going on, I wish I lived closer to Texas so I could check it out, who knows maybe someday I'll take a road trip. And on a side note I never though I'd see a tC go that fast.

Zoom! You CAN take a trip to Jotech to get one of those VIS CF hoods that Jotech has on a group buy-in exclusively with us. It would save you the shipping.

That would be sweet, but unfortunately going to school full time and working part time with full time hours puts a damper on that but in the next few years I want to save up some money and maybe have forced induction of some sort installed by them. The road trip itself would be worth it.

When I get to Texas the beginning of 2008 I am going to get Kenny to put an all Scion event at Jotech, maybe before the race season in the Spring.

*drool* If I had a million bucks...sure I might end up with a car that was fast from the factory...but I would soup-up my tC first...working on the car makes you feel like you deserve it more than buying it fast. This website is the first I have ever heard of Kenny Tran...and I already have a lot of respect for him.

one hot tC. bravo.

Spoken like a true gear head... working and building up your car is 90% of the fun of having a nice ride!

So true. Anyone can drop the cash and have it done. The magazines are full of them. There are very few people that go all the way and make a truly impressive ride all on their own though. Just having the space to work on and the correct tools can be a daunting task. I give alot of respect to anyone who does most of the work or all of it. Your car either becomes your passion or your angst. That all depends on how adept you are.

I so want to be able to work on my own car but OMG where and how do I start??? I've been reading through several different posts and boards and I'm less confident that I can do this than ever before *sob* On a scale of 1-10, my car knowledge is at about a 0.5. I am scum
Any advise on how to go about starting my gear head journey?
This is also in response to this post

Thanks in advance for your mercy *bats eyelashes*

Man I feel you, I'm no mechanic. FIND ONE! I go out of my way to make friends people who know WTF they are doing under a hood, 90% of the little I know has come from helping others work on their car. If you become friends with a mechanic who knows what he's doing, you get to help them work on their car, and as an added bonus they help you with yours, because a gear head always accepts a helping hand, and returns the favor when he can!

I learned everything I know about cars from the internet, although I do occasionally pick my friends brain. Then I just started doing stuff to my car to get a little experience.

Just make sure that you garnish knowledge from someone who actually has the knowledge. There are many out there who portray themselves as automotive intellectuals that are just barely knowledgeable themselves. The same goes for the Internet resources. Always read up, ask questions, and use your better judgement. We have alot of good gearhead on the forum here, so ask away.

My Tour of Duty in the jungles of New Orleans is up in January. I am using my powers of influence (I gots tha mojo ya know) to talk Kenny and Tony into throwing a huge Scion meet at his shop, maybe even a tuner run to someplace fun.
