inspection question
will installing an aftermarket header cause me to fail a state inspection?

Yes, it removes the primary cat. You can easily get a CEL eliminator though. This restricts the amount of air that gets to the second O2 sensor so it will read less impurities making it think there is a cat there. The secondary cat should be enough to pass the visual inspection.
