Default Getting an 08 Scion Tc

hey guys ok so heres my situation i really like the tc and the si i have driven both but for the extra money i didn't feel like the si was worth more then the tc the tc in fact actually felt a bit quicker to me....but anyways i originally wanted an electric blue 04 srt-4 but my parents don't want me to get a used car so i checked out the mazdaspeed 3 and its super quick but a little out of my price range so im gonna have to go with the tc... i want something thats quick so stock is not gonna work for me ive seen all the threads on s/c and t/c and i really dont no what to do either... i know a turbo can cost more but s/c can be quick my friend has a cobalt ss/sc and its not that bad at all...so basically i want something that can keep up with an srt-4 or close to it....what do you guys recommend...

Man i was looking at allot of different cars im a big Honda fan so i really liked the si but didnt like the body style and the run around that i got at honda so i went and test drove the tc and i love it the fact that i can add a supercharger and not void the warranty is great its fun to drive and looks alot nicer than the si just my two cents.

Talking Getting an 08 Blue Ribbon Metallic

In short, rolled my 2002 Civic Si avoiding a head-on with someone that was in my lane about a car length away at about a 130MPH closing speed. Dodged the bullet, wrecked the Si. A real bummer. Test drove a few cars but came back to the 08 Si and the 08 tC. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed with the performance of the Si. Very loud on acceleration but not as much punch as I expected from 197hp. Great interior, weird dash layout, excellent handling. Test drove the tC twice. Interior isn't outstanding but pretty decent. Excellent on take off. Must be the extra foot pounds of torque. Nice lines. Nice ride. A lot of car for the money. By the second test drive the car pretty much grew on me. I'm done. Getting the tC. Taking the saved cash and getting some mods and an after-market NAV system installed.

I was also looking at an Si. For the same amount of money i am getting a tC with supercharger CAI and a cat back. I also love all the new parts that are coming out this year for the tC's. I love how customizable they are. I can see myslf putting a lot of money into this car and keeping it forever.
    Boost!

Oh yeah, tC is great I though. I was also in the same position before. Si or tC . . finally, test drove the tC and i didn't wanna test drive the Si at all. Asked around and most of the people I talked to told me to stick with the tC. Don't always look at "power" and steer away from the overall performance. You want a well balanced car and that is what a true tuner would do. . . have a well balanced car . . . all around. Don't feel all bad cuz a muscle car can outrun ya on straight aways . . take em to the mountains with your balanced suspension and I gurantee you won't lose. Check out magazines and such. You'll see tC's all over the place. Did you see Kenny Tran's 739WHP tC?? Man I mean no engine swap there!! That's a lot of Horses!! Looks sick and I can only dream of having that much HP in my tC. Don't have the money yet . . so dream away for me . . .

yeah thats so true about it being such a balanced car thats why i want it so bad for the price you cannot beat it. honestly i like the si but its a couple thousand more and i think the interior is nothing greater than the tc the si seats are ok but i would take the seats out anyways and putting racing seats in for fun so yeah the tc is so much better its cheaper so you have more money to customize it the way you want it im in the process of trying to sell my car so i cant wait to get a tc!

If you don't mind a few downgrades, the spec package might be for you since you are changing the seats and probably going to put different wheels on it. No motorized sunroof is a real buzz killer on that one, although one could be retrofitted from a parts car later.

I'm a brand new TC owner , as in, picked it up yesterday! I too was thinking about the SI. The turn off for me: price and gas. The SI gets about the same fuel rating, BUT premuim fuel only. Theres the look of the car also. An SI looks just like base model civic. I havent seen a spec TC and the dealer said they dont even get them in. I'm glad I bought the Scion, I just want to keep driving it, even though I have nowhere to go.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with the spec. I'll go head to head with a regular tC and bet you I can pull a head a little faster. Most everyone's gonna change out the wheels . . so then what's gonna happen to the alloy? Hmm . . loss of money there already. So a little sunroof isn't there, big deal. Like Navy says . . retrofit. Nothing to regret about getting the spec. I've got one and still in the works. It'll look just like any other tCs out there. Only lighter, not too much lighter though. Loving the headlight too! Specially with the customized halos! Grills will be changed eventually, and then a lip kit will go on it . . . perhaps future upgrades of CF hood and hatch . . once I get all that done . . i'm gonna go and change my license plate prolly to . . . "thespec1" hahaha. . sounds lame but oh well.
