i just decided against that because the cops in long hill know me as a dick head driver, so that would be the first thing that they would pull me over for. just another oppurtunity for cops to be the usual dick heads that they are.

Hold on now. Not all police are like that. Yes, each force has that one guy on the beat, maybe a few more, but for the most part you can thank your peers and the people before you that created that situation. When I was teen driver, it was "Yes Sir" and "No Sir". You showed them respect and if you weren't doing something completely knucklehead, they would let you off with a warning. Heck, a year and a half ago I was getting tagged every night for a week going through this small hamlet to get back to the Navy Base here just south of New Orleans. They had a different reason everytime of why they pulled me over. Just because it is after midnight is not probable cause but profiling. I had my act together and could counter them on everything they threw at me. I thought a bit funny with me being the victor everytime, but I always remained respectful. They soon stopped bothering me. Now had I smarted off, well then I would definately had a problem.
Go ahead and tint your windows. Just make sure that it is up to the legal code on percentage of available light and that it has the sticker or paperwork to back it up.

i understand that. but in my town (not joking at all) the cops will pull you over for just window tints. im not even kidding. they love to pull over the teenagers for stupid stuff like that. they love to be able to pull us over for just window tints. you can be doing 35 in a 35 and they will pull you over for window tints. im not exagerating when i say this. the police force in my town DO NOT approve of window tints in any way.

I know with my agency tint is something to be very weary of because that is how a lot of officers have been killed. They couldn't see what the individual had and it would turn out to be a gun. That is why Vest are called bullet resistant not "bullet proof". So for you town they may have had a lot of problems with stuff like that.

yea, thats why they're illegal. because an officer can't see in the windows and one could be holding a gun, however, i live in a fairly small town with almost no crime. its just another north jersey town that is fairly quiet. but what i dont understand is how in high crime areas police wont bother you for having tints, but in low crime rate areas they do? doesnt make any sense to me. kinda sucks but thats they way it is i guess. and i have two PBA cards too, and i still get tickets. i guesss if you drive like an ass youre gunna get a ticket no matter what. woo for being 18!!!! and have gotten 12 tickets already lol.

damn bro 12 tickets?!? slow down! i got a fam pba card, but it isnt an invisibility card. but to your point on tints, i think cops in high crime areas are less likely to bother you for tint cuz they got more important stuff to worry about - like real crime. cops in low crime areas have nothing better to do. i've been stopped twice (no tickets) for tint in 9 months. both times in rural areas. i've never been stopped in atlantic city (where i live) or the surrounding areas.

yea, youre totally right. they have nothing better to do. haha the other night at like 1am or so, i saw two of them chillen in dunkin donuts. go figure. and as far as the tickets, i try to slow down, but gettting a ticket for 7 over? soo many people drive seven over, but i set the bar for myself so theyre gunna snag me for anything. i did it to mmyself, so i cant complain.

are radar detectors legal in ur area? if so and u dont have one, you better get one. i have a cobra xrs 1100 and it hasnt let me down. paid ~$150 for it a few years ago. the more you can afford, the better off you'll be.
true just about everyone speeds to some degree. but more so the 18-24 y/o demographic. plus, cops are tipped off by certain cars. civics are usually #1 on their list - Speed with a crowd of cars cuz cops are less likely to go after 2 or more people (although they can if they are that good) - Don't be in first or last in that crowd cuz you're an easier target - Don't ride in the passing lane if you're not passing anyone (a personal peeve of mine) - Learn the hiding spots of areas you frequently drive thru: highway medians, behind overpasses, in a ditch, or any other conspicuous place - Put your windows down if you see them before they see you - if they stop you anyway and ask why your windows are down, tell them you farted and lastly... - Don't resent the cops cuz they stopped you. Their intention (most of the time) is to protect the public. There are a small percentage of drivers out there who are routinely being dicks to cops and driving reckless and drunk all hours of the night. They mess it up for all of us. Just deal with it. by the way, i know a lot of this cuz a lot of my friends are cops (including a deputy chief of police) or studying criminal justice. i hope that gives me some credibility. Peace! |

Here are some tips for getting pulled over. If you know they are about to pull you over just pull over before they even put on their lights. Once over put your hazards on turn the car off and put the car in park (music off obviously). When the cop comes up have your stuff ready and keep your hands in view at all times. Let the cop do most of the talking and be as polite as you can. I know more cops than I can even name from new recruits to the chief of police from local cops to stateys. I have also gotten out of many tickets (military id helps out a lot).
