Sorry to dissappoint you guys here at the tc forum, but i recently went to buy my new car. I drove the tc, the civic and the vw rabbit, all in 5-speed. out of all the cars the tc and rabbit were my favorite, but the tc felt a little too tinny for me. im now a rabbit owner needless to say and i raced my friends tc the other day n took him. one thing im gonna miss out on not gettin the tc is the availability of aftermarket parts cuz theres not nearly as many for the vdub. wanted to say thx for all the help and good luck with ur tcs, see u on the streets

if its a tuner car with decent after market support you want, there are other VW's that would have been a better choice. the rabits are kind of the bish of VW... kind of girly imo.

but your the one driving it so if you like it thats all that matters. congrats on the new ride.

yeah thats kinda a stupid reply considering that the rabbit can beat the car u are in the forum for in a race hands down and looks almost exactly like the gti minus the front fascia being a bit different. rabbits were in my price range, so thats what i got im 18 and payin for college otherwise i woulda gotten a gti or r32.

It beats the tC hands down? You have numbers to back that up?

if you think it looks almost exactly like the gti you should take another look. they look similar, but all new VW's have that same look, but i assure you, nobody will see your rabbit and mistake it for a gti. dont take offense to it, just my opinion. and theres more to it than this car beats that car, stock for stock the turbo beatle S beats em both, but that hardly makes it anything i would consider driving. dont get your thong in a twist, you posted about buying a rabbit on a tC forum, did you expect everybody to agree that you made the right decision?

but its like i said before, your the one driving it, as long as you like it and are happy with your new ride, why care what I or anybody else on some tC forum thinks? ... heck, i drive a damn saturn, im sure damn near everybody here would pick a tC over my ion.

I know its only got 150hp, and i believe thats crank hp, so the tC has it beat there, but it also has 170lb/ft of torque. Stock for stock It would be a good race. i deff wouldnt say "it beats the tC hands down."

Well the 2008 says 170bhp, but I do not know what year he got. VW claims the 0-60 for the 2008 is 7.8 seconds which is exactly what the tC claims too. So yeah it would be a good race, and no one is gonna win hands down.

That is all fine and dandy, but can he do the uber kewl vdub hand sign? If theoptimist333 went with a different car than a tC, that is fine. No reason, for anyone to get upset. Each car has it's own appeal. Heck, I kinda like the Jettas and those GTi's can tear it up. theoptimist333 we wish you well and we will be waiting for the day that you return to us. /\ this guy knows whats up. but yeah i got a 2008 so i got the 170 horse and 177 lb. ft. of tq. that number of 7.8 is for the auto, i used my friends thing, idk what it is but it reads out 1/4 mile times n 0-60s n it sits on ur dash, i got a 7.4 0-60 w/o launch. if i launch i expect another couple tenths off, and yeah tc vs rabbit stock for stock hands down. me n the kid i kno with tc have raced about 5 or 6 times so far n every time lately (im gettin better at shifting) ive beaten him like at least 2 car lengths, from dig and from roll. he has so many more mods he can do, but i needed warranty n ill be happy with intake exhaust n chip till warrantys up.
