Hmmm, i just finished a full tank of gas and i came up with 220 miles for one tank...I need to change gears sooner and stop downshifting, see what happens next time.

Nah, you'll be fine.

ok so i did the math and i got 23.269 miles to the gallon... i did lose 20 miles with this tank though because my car is stuttering and lagging a bit... idk if that makes a difference though...

350 miles on the last fill up, then again i had 2 trips of 85 miles so i got to stretch the millage a bit.
when I drive like an old woman (minus the boat like Buick, Caddy, or Lincoln) I get about 26.7mpg ..I drive in the city and highway about half and half. I have a manual transmission and try to shift around 2500 to 3000 rpm. I am not sure what I get on the highway exclusively. I have not gone really gone on any trips since I got my car.
Just got 36.5 mpg... drivin around town @ 30 w. a whole buncha red lights, then 75 for a couple hours... either i'm that good or my car is the good fluke that wasn't supposed to get out haha...
You must have been going green using that Al Gore fuzzy math.So are ya'll taking your total miles to tank from a bone empty tank or sometime after the low fuel light illuminates? I usually take the number of gallons pumped and divide that by trip odometer miles. Then I figure what is left in the tank (total tank size minus the amount filled), then using the figured out MPG of fuel used, multiply that by the amount left in tank. Add the two MPG's together and that should be a fairly accurate total fuel tank MPG.

Over the weekend i went on a road trip =) got 375 miles one one tank, with about 2 gal left in the tank =)
I've had mine for a couple of months or so and get around 28 MPG running super.
So...I only get about 220 miles to the tank. Averaging with the 14.5 gallon tank that's like 15 mpg. WHAT!? I drive about 10 miles total a day, give or take 2, (I live close to work) Half of which is interstate. I have a manual and I haul ass when I get the chance, but as you can see, with the distance, I don't get much. Even still I don't see how I'm losing 8 mpg. I'm hemorrhaging gas somehow. Is this a mechanical issue or operator? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Haul'n arse like that you are only going to get a minimal amount of mileage per tank. Remember that your new car price sticker had a city/hwy MPG on it with a median number. There was also a high and a low number that depends on the type fuel used, driving conditions, and driver habits. The 2AZ-FE motor is controlled by a learning ECM. It will configure it's long term fuel trims to match your style of driving. Therefore, the computer will give your car the maximum possible performance within the confines of safe/reliable power and EPA standards to match your driving style. That means you are working at the low end of the city MPG spectrum. Mechanically, it could be that you air filter needs changing all the way to a clogged TWC (Three-way Catalytic Converter). Fuel now has a minimum of 10% Ethanol pretty much every where you buy with a few up to 15% mix. Ethanol is poor on gas mileage.

Well, here lately I have been letting my tank get down to a 1/4 tank. I normally do not do this because I have aways heard that if there is dirt in the bottom of the gas tank, it would get sucked up into the fuel filter and cause poor performance. I have been getting roughly 330 miles before a definite pit stop is required. That averages out to be about 30mpg combined city and highway. Thank you, AMSOIL lol.

Never go to a gas station that you see a fuel truck at or if the pumps pulsate everytime someone squeezes the pump handle. This means the station's tanks are low and you could be getting trash in your fill up. Most States require filters on the hoses but I don't trust that. Case in point, when I 1st took my car to Texas for storage, I attempted to change out my fuel pump. The surge tank where the pump resides had absolutely no sediment or particles including the filter screen. Not bad for about 46K miles. I have driven the car a few times since then over the past year. I drove the car straight back last month. When I finally got around to installing my Walbro pump, I found alot of sediment and metal particles in my surge tank. I was forced to fill-up at a station that had a fuel truck at it.

i know i posted here before but i've got an update now... i got an app on my iPhone for gas mileage so i keep track. apparently i get about 22mpg in town... 24mpg when going on a trip like to Albany (i live near NYC)..
i've noticed since i got the car i've lost about 25 sometimes 50 miles from the time it's full to the time the light goes on. but is this because i fill her up always at 12 gallons when i can get 2 more outta her?!
(oh.. and um... i'm hard on the pedal when the light goes green.. is this a factor haha)

That is very much a factor.

On this car, the low fuel light means just that. You have just right at 2 gallons left. My '07 Tundra has a little over 6 gallons left when it's low fuel light goes on. Just like the reason that lead was removed from fuel as it was bad for the environment, so to is the lead in your foot. Go Green. You should have that lead removed from your right foot.![]()

Funny story, when I was in Florida, I miscalculated how much gas I had left in my car. My best friend and I started talking about something on the way down to the Keys, got distracted annnnd then I realized I still had the yellow light glaring at me. Well, I refuse to pump at anything other than like a big chain, preferably BP or Shell and for several exits, it was gas stations I had never heard of. So the first BP exit I saw, I took it. Well, the BP was literally a mile and a half off the exit ramp and we were in the middle of no where. I told my best friend that my car wasn't accelerating and he said that I was just being a silly paranoid girl and we were gonna make it. Lo and behold, literally right at the end of the exit ramp, , at the first light, my car ran out of gas. Needless to say, "I told you so, you're a moron, I know my car" came out of my mouth and he got the joy of pushing my car out of the intersection and into the shoulder. Then we both got to walk to buy a gas can from the station... So moral of the story is, don't get distracted when your orange light is on!
They see me rollin', they hatin'! <3
Oh. And when I was in the Florida Keys, I got 425 as my all time high mileage, and that was after the fiasco of running out of gas.
