Scion Announces Pricing For tC Release Series 4.0 To Be Displayed At The 2008 Chicago Auto Show

Scion, of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., announced today that the second limited-production Scion for 2008, the tC Release Series 4.0 (tC RS 4.0), will be available at dealer showrooms beginning in March. A tC RS 4.0 will be on display in the Scion booth at the Chicago Auto Show.

The 2008 tC RS 4.0 will feature Galactic Gray Mica exterior paint and will come with VIP-themed enhancements. A DAMD body kit and upper grille will make this tC standout. A color-keyed rear spoiler will also be available. Inside, the tC RS 4.0 will have gray and black Alcantara® seats, “tC RS 4.0” embroidered on the front and rear seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a black leather and dark wood RAZO shift knob. Like all Release Series vehicles, an individually numbered badge will complete the uniqueness of this vehicle.

Only 2,300 units of the tC RS 4.0 will be built. The tC Release Series 4.0 model will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $2,770 over the base price of the tC. The manual transmission tC has a base MSRP of $17,000, while the MSRP for the automatic transmission model is $17,800. The available color-keyed spoiler has an MSRP of $285, not including installation.

The delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee for all Scion models is $620 and is not included in the MSRP. DPH fees for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST) may vary.

RS1.0 - More bang for the buck and better performance.
RS3.0 - The sweet, sexy honey of the bunch.
RS2.0 - Not much. Only thing going is the color.... I think?!?!
RS4.0 - Such utter disappointment. Give me a Spec and I will make my own!!!!

i went to Shore Toyota / Scion here in Mays Landing, NJ to ask about the rs4.0 and they had no idea what i was talking about. my salesman who i bought my current tC from said he never heard of it. (wait, it gets better) the manager for scion flat out said he hasn't heard about it yet either! so the two of them went to "research it" and came back empty handed! they grilled me on where i got the info and how i knew so much about it. told them Club-tC.com son! recognize! whoop whoop! alright i didnt say all that, but i told them i got it from here. it's my impression that these guys at this dealership arent too knowledgeable about their product. for goodness sake scion only has 4 cars!

deep breath... figured that it wasnt worth trying to get a rs4.0 for me anyway!

I have heard a lot of bad stuff about that dealer, so it is not surprising. A few of the people I work with had some bad experiences there.

Whoops! You discovered Scion's trade secret; cutting costs by hiring people whom have no car sales experience so that they are too inept to hassle you You will find that the well versed car buyer knows more about the Scion product line than 98% of the Scion sales staff, including the mechanics.

Actually it might be a good thing. What espiring young adult has not been lured by the coolness of landing a job at a big, new car dealership? With our community's expertise on the Scion product line, many out of the flock could talk themselves into a beginning Sales position that might have went to that used car salesman Fat Larry.

The SCION people at the first dealership that I went to knew literally squat about automotives.

It's the truth.

90% of Dealerships hire mechanics who are certified with 4 months of trade school experience. More than likely you're paying a mechanic to follow an instruction manual, just as you would if you're knowledgable about automotive mechanics.

Finding a good, reputable dealership, with recognized technicians is a hard thing to come by, luckily, there are good ones in CA.

i am losing respect for these dealerships. everyone has their suspicions and conspiracy theories. but it's ridiculous (but feasible) to believe they just dont put enough effort into training their sales staff and mechanics about the cars we are investing in. if nobody bought their cars, they'd all be out of a job! but they get away with it cuz the car (esp the tC) practically sells itself. all u have to do is open the sunroof, fold down the rear seats, plug in the ipod, and ballpark the gas mileage, and it's sealed! toyota's rep for safety put the bow on it.
