What oil is everyone using?

Everyone using regular or synthetic? What brand? I've always been using Castrol GTX but I've noticed that the time frame to change oil for TC's is 5k instead of 3k. I don't know if regular oil will last that long.

Almost all oils today are engineered to last past the 3k mark now. Personally I've been using the new Mobil 5k oils.

There is a article in the current months version of Super Street magazine. For the most part it looks like their experts reccomend synthetic but than again their experts are from the oil manufacturers themselves.

hey eveyone...i've had my 06 Tc for a month now and will be changing the oil around Dec....obviously it still has regular oil, and i get 3 free oil changes from the dealer for buying the car..my question is, once i get the 3 free oil changes does anyone know if its okay for the engine to go straight to synthetic?

You can switch to synthetic at 3k. Conventional oil is just used to seal the the piston rings of the engine when it's being broken in. To break in my engine I did an oil change at 500 and 1k with conventional oil, at 3k I started using Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 all the way! Occasionally I put in Valvoline Synthetic.

I switched to Mobil 1 too soon, before I used up all my free changes! But I guess it doesent hurt to put synthetic in at 3,000. It just hurts the pocket book.

Yeah I probably would use all my free oil changes first. I don't mind spending a little more for synthetic though, after all we all did spend 16k+ on our cars.

ill stand by mobil 1. probally to the day i die. and id still do regular oil changes at 3k miles.
