Default Should I Buy the Scion TC?

I really dig the TC. I am considering buying one with the TRD supercharger, cold air intake, exhaust, and LSD. I do not know a whole lot about cars so I don't know if that would just be retarded or if it would be cool. My friend has a chipped GTI with a turbo. (not sure what kind) Would it be able to compete with that? I also saw a video of a superchargesr TC beating an STI no problem. Any comments on that?

Also would a supercharger increase insurance payments or affect gas mileage or anything?

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

Sounds like a good list, however, the cold air intake would not be compatible with the supercharger, it would be too lean of a mixture of gas and air which means that you would have too much air and thats bad. Also the supercharger would prob decrease your gas mileage a little bit since you are adding horsepower to your car and also something else to think about you can't run any less than 89 grade fuel with the supercharger, they reccomend 93 but I have heard that it is safe with 89, hope this helps!

About the insurance question yes the s/c will raise it. What i did was buy my car then charged it. The insurance wont know. It is also cheaper this way because you wont pay tax on the charger while ordering it on the car. as for the GTI with turbo i dont think you can keep up, but ive never raced one. Good luck with the tC

I've been working on 4wd and AWD turbo applications for YEARS. After I sold my Subaru, I thought I'd never love anything else. Suffice it to say, my tC is my baby, and I love this car.

It's not the same, but it's something new, and I love that.

please post the link of the tC beating the STi. only turbo'd tC's are keeping up i think. and that's vs a stock (or almost stock) STi

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the replys. I know I want the TC I guess I just need to figure out what to invest in to make it quicker. Would you guys suggest a turbo kit instead of the supercharger?

And here is that video I saw. I think youre right it says the TC is turbo.

I liked the idea of a supercharger since I can just get it on at the dealership, throw it in with the monthly payments and have it covered by the warranty.

I read that the TC has a bit of trouble putting the power down, so I figured getting the limited slip differential would help with that. Is the LSD worth the money?

Still I'd hate to put $3,000+ into performace parts hoping to be quick and then end up getting laughed at by some ****ty '99 civc ex.

With a LSD and S/C you won't be losing to any Civic unless it has a motor swap, at which point, losing shouldn't matter.

Any H-22, B18 or B16b model in a early year light Civic is going to beat you. With the LSD and S/C you'll be competitive, remember the supporting mods will give you an advantage.

Beyond that, with an '08 tC, you'll have a brand new car (not an old one w/ a nice motor) and with all the modern features that makes it a comfortable and fun car to ride.

Thanks for your help Soulbane. Hopefully I'll be cruising around in a supercharged '08 tC next month.

I was under the impression that you can't finance the supercharger with the car and that you had to pay that in full with your down payment?

Oh really? The salesman I talked to must have overlooked that. Oh well, I guess that makes sense though.

i've been back and forth a couple times on s/c vs turbo myself. you get the warranty of the s/c, but more power with the turbo. decisions!

The tc is the best bargain out there if you want to spend around $20K. Even with extensive mods, you'll be hard pressed to beat a stock Sti.

I love my TC, real smooth. All my friends are so jealous of me. And always ask to drive my car.
