So I noticed that sometimes when I reverse and I turn the wheels there's a squeaking sound coming from the front of the car, did this happen to anyone else? Does anyone know what this is from? I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer but if its something I can fix myself I'm just going to do it instead of putting a hole in my pocket. |

hmm, ill be honest, about three weeks ago, i noticed a squeeking coming from the front of my car, but only when i was turning and reversing, so the same as you. it ended up being that i needed new front brake pads. idk if its the same squeeking you have nor do i know why my car made that noise while i was turning in reverse, but as soon as i got my new brakes, no more squeek. maybe brakes on your car?

Yo what a coincidence, today I was backing up into my parking spot and heard that same wierd noise. Its not the tires and its coming from the power steering system. I was on rough pavement and my front tires have like 10% tread. It was deff. coming from under the hood, same sound that junky cars make when they're power steering is screwd up.Ah thank god Im not alone, I thought I messed something up in the power steering when I heard that crap. I think I smell a recall??
Everyone needs to go try this to see how many are affected by the squeek of death!!! Back up slowly, like half a mph and turn the wheel left and right. |

Reversing in a sharp turn is an old mechanics method for finding bad CV joints. It would be more of a clicking sound though. Just the same, check that the transaxle support bearing for the passenger axle is not loose. I believe that there is 4 bolts that hold it to the engine block.
It could very well be a tire rub against the mud guards in the front wheel-wells. Are the people experiencing this sound riding stock height and OEM wheels? It is also extremely possible of what beyond305 stated. The power steering fluid in the tC gets burnt within 20~30K miles and begins to sludge up the reservoir. The reservoir has a a dual screen mesh filter to catch the large particles but the sludge can get thru and gum up o-rings. This could be an o-ring that is letting some fluid pressure get by. This can happen more noticibly in reversing as one tends to drive the wheel more to the locks. This puts more pressure and strain on the system, thus noise.
